2007 Bon Anno Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 11-16-2009
When I taste a Napa Cabernet the most important factor that I look for is balance. All cabs have fruit, all cabs have tannins (integrated or not) and all cabs have body, but it's balance that makes a good one. The 2007 Bon Anno has wonderful balance of fruit, body, structure and herbaciousness. A real steal for under $20 IMHO. (That's text talk for "in my humble opinion".)

Dense, dark and powerful...this is a perfect example of how great 2004 is for Brunello. Beautifully balanced with ripe fruit, herbaciousness and opulence. Delicious!

Laird's Straight Bonded Apple Jack 100 proof 750ml
Review Date: 11-3-2009
I was skittish to try this at first. Apple brandy from the US?? Hmmm... The bottle looks like something that you would see on the bottom shelf of the neighborhood bar, with a solid layer of dust, which makes you wonder how long has that been there. Believe me the stuff inside the bottle is a knock out. It's 100% apple brandy with no neutral spirits added and you can tell. If you're at all serious about making cocktails you need this in your bar.

Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur 750ml (was $29.99)
Review Date: 11-3-2009
Maraschino (pronounced marr-?-SKEE-noe{an ode to our Italian buyer Greg who corrects our Italian whenever possible}) is a cherry liqueur made from the Marasca cherry. So good. They leave the cherry pits in with the fruit which adds an awesome almond-like flavor. Use this in cocktails, over fruit or even ice cream.

This stuff is liquid deliciousness. You can put in anything and it will make it taste wonderful. Seriously, you could put this in muddy water and it would still make it great. Floral, light and bright with an elegance with no equal. Try it in sparkling wine. Yummy!

Perfect for the holiday cocktails. Having turkey and cranberry sauce for dinner? How about a cocktail with Cranberry Liquer? Clear Creek Distillery is one of the best in the country. This is dark red, slightly sweet and has that awesome cranberry tartness. Heck, you could even try it over your icecream.

2008 Infinity Central Coast Syrah-Grenache
Review Date: 10-25-2009
To infinity and beyond!(copyright Walt Disney Inc.) I like this wine. It takes 2 of my favorite varietals, Syrah and Grenache and blends them together, in equal parts, very well. Good structure, nice fruit, a little spice and a solid finish. A very good value from a very small producer.

2003 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 10-20-2009
2003 was a challenging year in Tuscany. It was hot. Really hot. The grapes got ripe. Becuase of that the wines show more fruit upfront than in other years. This is not necessarely a bad thing as shown in the the '03 La Fortuna Brunello. It is a ripe, expressive and dense wine. Full of awesome aromtics and well integrated tannins. It's delizioso!

2007 La Fortuna "Fortunello"
Review Date: 10-20-2009
A super-tuscan at a super price. We love La Fortuna and they have been producing fantastic wines for many years. The 2007 Fortunello is no exception. Mostly Sangiovese with a little Merlot this wine has it all. The power of the Sangiovese comes through and it is softened by the Merlot. 2007 was a great year in Tuscany and it shines through in this wine.

2008 Sesta di Sopra Extra Vergine Olive Oil 750ml
Review Date: 9-30-2009
Made from old grove olive trees this oil is delicious. Entirely from the 2008 vintage and super small production it is one of my favorites. It has a great spicy finish to it and goes great drizzled on bruschetta or a salad or even just with a piece of bread watching TV. Yum yum!

2007 Baricci Rosso di Montalcino
Review Date: 9-28-2009
Baricci has hit it out of the park with this one. To me it represents all that a Rosso di Montalcino should be. It's full bodied but elegant. It has fruit but some earth and herbaceousness as well. Beautiful wine.

2008 Wildhurst "Reserve" Lake County Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 9-28-2009
I tend to shy away from domestic Sauvignon Blancs. Usually they are a bit too rich for me but not this one. It's from Lake County and fermented in all stainless steel. Crisp, racy and refreshing just the way I like it. Try it on a hot day.

Russian River Brewing Blind Pig IPA 500ml
Review Date: 8-17-2009
Hops, hops and more hops...but balanced. Russian River Brewing is making some of the most sought after beers in the country these days and for good reason. The Blind Pig has everything you could want in an IPA. It's bitter but balanced with some fruit and spice. I may be a vegan but I love me some Blind Pig.

2007 Monastero Suore Cistercensi "Rusticum" Lazio Bianco

This wine is AWESOME! One of the coolest white wines I've ever had. If you close your eyes you'd swear it was a red wine when you taste it. Sooooo much flavor, structure and mystery. Geeky and very cool.

2003 Kirkham Peak Shiraz-Cabernet Clare Valley South Australia
Review Date: 7-1-2009
This has been one of my favorite wines for more than a year now and just keeps getting better as time goes on. Since it's a 2003 it's had time to meld together in the bottle and is drinking beautifully. Not overly fruity with hints of menthol and spice. Perfect for summer BBQ!

2007 Loring "Garys' Vineyard" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

Love this Pinot. It fits my palate precisely. Bright ruby in color with a very aromatic nose of black cherry, raspberry and cinnamon. Forward cherry fruit flavors and good acidity with some spice and nicely integrated tannins. A delicious, elegant Pinot!

2007 Undone Pinot Noir

What an awesome and fun wine. Sure it's pinot noir, only 11 bucks and from Germany, get over it. Medium-bodied with strawberry, cherry and some spice on the finish. Throw it in the fridge on a hot summer day, sit back relax and enjoy.
