2007 Arzuaga "La Planta" Ribera del Duero
Review Date: 6-25-2009
With neighbors like Vega Sicilia and Finca Villacreces, the folks at Arzuaga are in the Boardwalk/Park Place neighborhood of the Ribera Del Duero. The La Planta is their entry-level offering. Made from 100% Tempranillo and aged for 6 months in a mix of French and American oak, this red is bright and full of ripe berry/black cherry fruit. Vanillin oak, acidity, and ripe tannins provide great support for the fruit. Enjoy this red with anything off the grill---maybe some lamb merguez sausages?

2005 Fescenino Roble Ribera del Duero
Review Date: 6-25-2009
2005 was a big, warm vintage in the Ribera del Duero and this Fescenino shows all the depth and power the warm Spanish sun gives to these vineyards. The fresh black cherry and currant fruit is complimented by the oak and ripe tannins. The plush, round palate makes this succulent red approachable now, but the length and depth of the finish give it plenty of staying power in your cellar.

2004 Valduero Reserva Ribera del Duero
Review Date: 6-25-2009
Established in 1984, the Garcia Viadero family has committed themselves to producing high quality wines from the Ribera featuring the native varietal, Tempranillo. Through rigorous selection, they have purchased 250 HA of old vine (60-80 years). The bodega, built in 1999, is a high tech marvel, which incorporates the best of modern winemaking while preserving the natural setting. The 2004 Reserva is a big, powerful red. From the ripe fruit, focused acidity and ripe tannins, this wine will age in the cellar for another 7-15 years.

2005 Reserve de la Comtesse Lalande, Pauillac
Review Date: 4-28-2009
Comtesse de Lalande, the second label from Pichon Lalande, is one of our customers’ favorite Bordeaux bargains. Made with all the care of the first label, the Comtesse was officially first produced in 1973. In order to create this red a severe selection is made for the Pichon Lalande itself, what is left then goes into the Comtesse or the Gartieux. Each year about 20-50% of the total production of wine goes into the making of the Comtesse. The 2005 is a flashy wine from this normally elegant styled chateau. From the vanillin oak and ripe cassis fruit to the firm tannins and long finish, this Comtesse shows all of the flamboyance of this top vintage. Enjoy this wine after another 3-5 years in your cellar…I think it has plenty of stuffing to last 20 years from vintage.

2003 Coufran, Haut-Médoc (375ml)
Review Date: 4-27-2009
Full and rich, this 2003 is showing all of the warmth and ripeness of the vintage. The body of the wine is supported with more tannin and acidity than other Haut-Medocs that I have tried, giving the wine freshness and balance. I would enjoy this wine over the next 3-5 years.

Franck Bonville Brut Selection Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 4-27-2009
This Bonville rocks! I love this 100% Chardonnay cuvee for its toasty aromas, full, creamy mouthfeel and fresh, crisp finish. We just had the Bonville with some assorted hors d’ouevre, but it gulped down pretty OK, too!!

2006 Suduiraut, Sauternes
Review Date: 4-27-2009
Does dessert get better that this? I love this Sauternes for its ripe pineapple and melon fruit, honeyed aromas, and richness on the palate. The acidity and long finish keep the wine lively and give it plenty of structure to age for the next 10-20 years.
Drink from 2019 to 2029

2001 Verdignan Rouge, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 4-27-2009
Just beginning to darken in color, the 2001 has plenty of deep cassis fruit. Aromas earth, cedar and tobacco give way to plush fruit on the palate. The elegant fruit is balanced by good acidity and ripe tannins. This wine should be drinking well for the next 5-10 years.

Fleury Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 3-4-2009
For those of you who know me best, it’s no surprise that I am writing up a wine that is pink! The Fleury Rosé is no cutsey little wine, however. This is a serious wine for both lovers of Champagne and lovers of Pinot Noir. Gary has given you all the nitty gritty details of the winemaking in the above description…me…I’m all about the taste. I love the fresh strawberry notes to the aroma, the richness on the palate and the long crisp finish. From the look in the glass to the concentrated flavors on the palate, this rosé Champagne shows that it came from great Pinot Noir grapes first. Enjoy the Fleury Rosé with a meal…something like tuna sashimi or maybe grilled salmon.
