2007 Ponzi "Tavola" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 7-22-2009
It's back, one of my favorite deals in Oregon Pinot Noir shows best in a classic Oregon year like 2007. The velvety soft tannins and slightly tart cherry highlights to the delicious fruit goes very well with salmon cakes or roast poultry.

2007 Ponzi Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 7-22-2009
The 2007 vintage returns to the great complex and elegant Pinot Noirs Oregon has become famous for. As you can see from the description, the layers of flavors and great acidity are back, this is not your fruit bomb - syrah imitation Pinot, it tastes of the varietal and is fantastic!

2006 Luca Chardonnay Altos de Mendoza
Review Date: 7-1-2009
Mmmmmm. I had this rich beauty in Mendoza with the winemaker and what a beautiful chard it is. A Sonoma/Kistler style chard from Argentina with loads of unctous fruit, lovely oak treatment and undeniable charm. This is Laura Catena's wine for those of you familiar with South America you already know she is from the first family of Argentinas wine world.

2008 Domaine Begude Pinot Noir Vin de Pays d'Oc Rosé
Review Date: 6-29-2009
I just had this over the last weekend and what a lovely rose. You can really taste the pinot noir fruit, but in a wonderfully delicate and elegant rose. Nice and dry, and perfect for a warm evening on the patio!

I can give this no better recommendation, working for K&L I have a lot of choices, and this was the wine for my wedding. You'll always find it in my cellar and I love this Champagne.

2005 Savigny-lès-Beaune, Domaine Arnoux Pere & Fils (Was $35 Elsewhere)

Wow what a deal, I had this last night and was really impressed (6/8/09). For this price you might expect a vaguely Burgundian Pinot Noir, but this little gem is much more - a real Burgundy with wonderfully crisp red fruits and a background of nice deeper notes, great acidity and a nice touch of minerality. It is a great representation of Savigny Les Beaune from the very highly acclaimed 2005 vintage. Let it breathe for an hour or two or put this in your cellar for a few years. You won't believe it for $19.99.

2006 Almaviva

This is the Opus One of Chile – Mouton Rothschild and Concha y Toro came together to create one of the best wines of Chile. It worked in Napa, and now they've reproduced their success in Chile. The vineyard source was a great section of the Don Melchor vineyard, and we all know what great fruit that vineyard produces. The style, however, is definitely influenced by the French parent. The 2006 may be their best vintage ever, with deep and powerful fruit from Daddy Melchor, with differing layers of secondary elements of smoke and graphite coming through as the wine breathes, inherited from Mama Mouton. Hints of Mouton’s style are not easily missed – with the wine's muscular intricate elegance and long potential. Plus… it’s half the price of Opus and the quality level is right there. I’m sold!

2005 Cheval de Andes Mendoza
Review Date: 5-18-2009

2005 Cheval des Andes – yep that’s Cheval Blanc’s project with Moet in Argentina- is something to behold. Very modern and New World in body and texture but with wonderful veins of earthiness, cocoa powder, berry compote and sweet-silky tannins. The young superstar winemaker Nicolas Audebert working with Pierre Lurton (of Yquem and Cheval Blanc, to name a couple of his other responsibilities) was stolen somehow from the house of Krug and shows his passionate care of the wine with every step. Not content to make a nice Argentine Malbec, he works every nuance from the grape (the original grape of St-Emilion), tends to the sandy desert viticulture and produces one on the New World's "must have" wines.
Drink from 2010 to 2020
