Deligeroy Crémant de Loire Brut Rosé
Review Date: 2-19-2011
Bright, fresh, clean and juicy, this is the perfect sparkler for parties or just plain enjoyment at any time. The Deligeroy Cremant Rose has a beautiful dark pink color, nice subtle berry flavors and a dry finish. All of this for a great price.
Blade Gin 750ml
Review Date: 11-1-2010
Blade Gin is a great addition to the craft gins that are now avaible. Like most of the craft gins, the aromas and flavors are more pronouced than larger production gins. What makes Blade Gin unique and so delicious, are the pronouced soft citrus flavors that make it a great gin to mix in cocktails. But it is so good it tastes wonderful on the rocks.
Ardbeg Corryvreckan Islay Single Malt Whisky 750ml
Review Date: 9-6-2010
Another great addition to the line of single malts from Ardbeg. The Corryvreckan has the famous Ardbeg smoke and peat but is a unique product in its own right. The mouth feel is rich and round with more weight than I had expected. This blends very nicely with the smoke and peat to make one great beverage.
Anchor "Genevieve" Genever-Style Gin 750ml
Review Date: 8-1-2010
The Anchor Genevieve is one of the most interesting and delicious gins that I have ever had. It has pronoucned juniper aromas with secondary notes of citrus. In the mouth it is soft and round with the various botanicals bring complexity to the drink. I've had it chilled straight up and on the rocks and both ways the Anchor Gevevieve is fantastic.
Dudognon Reserve Cognac 750ml
Review Date: 1-11-2010
This is one of my favorite Cognacs. The reason is that it has everything that I think a good Cognac should have. The Dudognon Reserve is soft, elegant and packed full of delicate flavors. The finish just lingers and goes on and on, showing that this is a high quality spirit.
Collard-Picard "Cuvée Selection" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 12-28-2009
Ever since Gary Westby found this Champagne it has been one of my favorites. The Collard-Picard is made from 80% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. The nice round nutty richness of the Pinot Meunier is balanced out with crisp mineral flavors of the Chardonnay. Enjoy this lovely Champagne alone or with fish or chicken.
Bruno Michel "Les Roses" Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 11-9-2009
One of the most unique Champagnes that I have tasted. And one of the best. The Bruno Michel Les Rose is made from 100% Pinot Meunier and is full bodied and dry, with a nice red color and lively bubbles. This Champagne will go great with salmon or fowl and is produced to accompany food.
Collard-Picard "Dom Picard" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 11-9-2009
The elegance and finesse jump out of a glass of the Dom Picard Blanc De Blancs, with complex aromas promising what is to come. Dry, yet round with layers of flavors, this Champagne reflects both the Chardonnay grapes from Grand Cru vinyards and the care in the aging. From a small grower producer, this is well worth the price.
Franck Bonville Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 11-2-2009
What a great producer Franck Bonville is! This excellence shows in the Brut Selection Blanc de Blanc. When one opens the bottle and pours some of this Champagne into a glass, beautiful aromas are the first teasing impression. The Champagne is dry and crisp with clean delicate flavors. Great alone or with lighter foods.
LeMorton Reserve 6 year old Calvados Domfrontais 750ml
Review Date: 8-24-2009
This exciting Calvados is made from 70% apples and 30% pears. The blending of pear brandy into the apple brandy is typical for the Domfrontais region. I think that the pear adds nuance and complex flavors that help lift up the bright apple taste of this delicious treat. The Lemorton Reserve is, at the time of this writing, my favorite Calvados in the store.
Barbolini "Lancillotto" Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro
Review Date: 8-6-2009
I am a big fan of dry Lambruscos because they are fun, go with almost any type of food and are a pleasure to drink alone. The Barbolini is dry and medium- to full-bodied, with dark fruit and earthy flavors and a light fizziness that adds excitement to the glass. I had it with pizza and it was fantastic.
