2009 Kenneth Volk Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 5-21-2014
From Star Ranch & Carmody McKnight vineyards. Ripe, but fresh currant and blackberry fruit, vanilla, blueberry, mild tannic finish. Toasty vanilla notes, but not overly sweet. Solid Cab!

2012 Clendenen "Stallion Vineyard" Santa Ynez Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 5-20-2014
Mineral driven, floral, and full of tropical and citrus fruit. The wine is round on the palate, yet has solid acidity and chalky minerality. Once again, great balance and depth from a Clendenen Family wine.
Top Value!

2007 Clendenen "Le Pip" Santa Maria Valley Nebbiolo
Review Date: 5-20-2014
Domestic Nebbiolo is quite hard to make well; there is a reason we only have two producers! The Le Pip Nebbiolo, full of Bien Naciedo fruit at 1000 ft elevation, is quite the exception! Rich, powerful, and full of tannin (as the varietal is known for), this wine is full of wild cherry, currant, and rose hips. Plenty of structure and depth, with great focus and round tannins, the Pip is a hell of a wine. It is approachable now, but will reward a few more years in the cellar.

2009 Ici/La-Bas "Les Reveles-Elke Vineyard" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 5-20-2014
Ripe cherry, raspberry, oak toast on the nose. The palate is quite savory, full of spicebox, wild red fruit, and underbrush. Medium weight, with a long, earthy finish. Anderson Valley fruit really shows here!

2011 Kenneth Volk Touriga Nacional
Review Date: 5-12-2014
This wine is very floral, rose and violet notes, alongside black cherry and blackberry fruit. The palate is leaner, but full of fresh currant, rich cherry and plum fruit, with an earthy, lightly tannic finish. A very interesting and delicious wine!

2011 Vina Robles "Red 4" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Review Date: 4-30-2014
Rich, perfumed fruit jumps from the glass carrying over to a palate of baked blackberry and plum, candied cherry, earth, cigar box smoke & spice, and soft tannins. Great weight and texture are this wine's calling card and it will be a hit at any summer BBQ.

2013 Bishop's Peak San Luis Obispo County Chardonnay
Review Date: 4-30-2014
An incredible offering from Talley Vineyard's value priced lineup. This is a very focused and vibrant wine, with fresh Granny Smith apple, vibrant, tangy citrus zest, and a great mineral drive. Ridiculously undervalued $14 Chardonnay!

2012 Talley Estate Arroyo Grande Chardonnay
Review Date: 4-16-2014
The secret is out: Talley makes incredible wine, and now we can barely keep it on our shelf. Their Chardonnay has been a favorite to sell for parties, weddings, and just about any get-together that needs both a crowd-pleasing wine and a wine that goes the extra mile for the "serious wine drinkers" of the group. Bright apple and mild toast (15% new oak) show on the nose, continuing onto the palate with hints of tropical fruit and mouthwatering acid. Once again, the texture shines in this Chardonnay, which has a creamy palate yet fresh, bright, and clean fruit flavors.

2012 Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara County Chardonnay
Review Date: 4-16-2014
The 2012 Chardonnay from ABC is just unfair to other Chardonnays in the $20 range. Everything is done right with truly impeccable balance; creamy mid palate, texture, citrus and stone fruit, mild toast, and great mineral and acid to really round out the whole package. Serious wine for $20!

2011 Seven Hills Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 1-14-2014
In 2011, Seven Hills made no reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, instead adding much of that wine to their entry-level Columbia Valley Cabernet. This packs quite a punch for $20. The reserve vineyard wine adds a bit of powerful black fruit, hefty mineral, and darker tannins to the already prevalent plum, raspberry, cocoa and fresh herbs. Fruit-forward, yet focused and well-structured, this is a very strong offering from a superbly consistent winery.

Michel Arnould Verzenay "Reserve" Brut Champagne

Rich and toasty, yet fresh and focused, this Champagne is chock full of stone fruit and hazelnut. As mentioned, this is a lot of wine for the price!

2005 Bodegas Casa Juan Seņor de Lesmos Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 8-29-2013
A great deal in traditional Rioja, this wine is full of red fruit, spice and earthy undertones. This wine has the structure to last quite a while, yet it is drinking beautifully now. All for $20!

2009 Saarloos & Sons "His" Santa Ynez Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 4-1-2013
isit Saarloos & Sons immediately, enough said! We had a great time with the Saarloos brothers as we learned some family history and drank some kick ass wines! Check out the website to watch the great videos from the vineyards and see a really fun side of winemaking. This Cabernet is full of bright red berry fruit, great acid and tanin balance, and will be a delight to drink with family and friends at your next feast!
