One for the cellar. Big, firm and focused, with classic Lafite lead pencil, cedar and minerals.

Pure and seamless, with a sweet undertone of black currants and fleshy, big tannins. One for the cellar.

A big wine with lots of dense fruit and a long, rich and mineral-driven finish.

2010 Pape Clément, Pessac-Léognan Pre-Arrival

Yes, this is made in a ripe, extracted style, but it also shows balance and structure. Flavors include bittersweet chocolate, clove and crushed blackberries.

Arette Artesanal Blanco Suave Tequila 750ml
Review Date: 5-20-2008
Arette was founded in 1900 by the Orendain family. Since 1976 it has been produced and bottled by Eduardo and Jaime Orendain in their distillery “El Llano” in Tequila, Mexico. The Blanco is one of the most unique tequilas I have tasted yet. It is very bright and citric, with a lively palate and hints of oak. The Reposado is your sipping tequila: complex, deep and rich. Both are excellent, hand-crafted tequilas that I would highly recommend.

2006 Lewis Cellars "Barcaglia Lane" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 4-17-2008
Clyde briefly alluded to this wine’s arrival in the April issue of our newsletter and I'm so excited that it’s here! A big and full-bodied chardonnay, intensely concentrated and rich, the Barcaglia is far denser than it has been in years past and more golden in color. This vintage tastes more like the Reserve bottling from Lewis. The Barcaglia Lane comes from the Dutton family’s rolling vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Plenty of acidity is present to hold up the freshness of the fruit and oak.

2005 Orin Swift "Papillon" Napa Valley Red Blend
Review Date: 4-17-2008
From the makers of “The Prisoner” comes “Papillon,” Orin Swift’s first release of a true Bordeaux style blend! Composed from 63% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot, 9% cabernet franc, 7% malbec and 2% petit verdot. The wine is fleshy and layered in the mouth with tons of blackberries, crushed cherry and spice flavors that are followed up by sweet, juicy tannins. This is a big cab and is best with some decanting. A perfect match for grilled beef.
