2011 Malartic-Lagravière, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 5-5-2014
A very crisp, focused, bright, lively, chalky, mineral-driven wine. Long and fresh. 90-92 points.

2011 Magdelaine, St-Emilion Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
A rustic style, leaner and more restrained. The tannins are a bit too dry for me, but it's done in an old-school style with some charm.

2011 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (3L)
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Nice nose, with hints of mocha and spice, sweet and fleshy in the mouth, with lots of mineral and graphite and very firm tannins on the finish. Successful for the vintage. 90-92 points.

2011 Latour, Pauillac
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Smoky flavors of graphite, slate and minerals, with a sweet core of black berries and red currants. Still firm on the finish. A very good Latour. 93-95 points.

2011 Lafleur-Gazin, Pomerol Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Very fresh crushed fruit aromas, sweet core of fruit, spicy, toasty cola flavors. Long, balanced and very nice.

2011 Hosanna, Pomerol Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Dark fruit and smoky, almost meaty aromas. On the palate, the fruit is there, but underneath a mass of tannin and structure. This wine will need some time to come around.

2011 Fonplégade, St-Emilion (1.5L)
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Dark and inky in the mouth, graphite and slate, minerals sweet minerals. Still very tannic on the finish and big. Should age well--there is enough fruit to cellar. Great freshness.

2011 Margaux, Margaux (1.5L) Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Sweet mocha upfront and fleshy fruit, seamless in the middle with a long finish. Lush, sweet and rich. From a very small crop. This is very approachable young. The tannins are silky, but the wine is quite serious. May be my favorite of the vintage. 94-96 points.

2011 Palmer, Margaux Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Their smallest harvest since 1961. Dense and concentrated, with juicy blue fruits. This is big and firm, quite tannic, with a bit of a hard edge but still a solid effort. 91-93 points.

2011 Beychevelle, St-Julien Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Perfumy nose, good spice, surprisingly sweet, with a soft, smooth finish. Fleshy mid-palate. A bit light but good.

2011 Rieussec, Sauternes (375ml) Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-5-2014
Big, rich, lush and sweet, very decadent and fat in mouth but has the acid to back it up. Excellent wine. 92-94 points.

2011 Mauvesin-Barton, Moulis
Review Date: 5-4-2014
Good fruit, very fresh, lively. A bit light, but clean and not green. Elegant. Good Value! We tasted this three times, and it was very good all three times.

2011 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (1.5L) Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-2-2014
Inky dark color, roasted black coffee aromas, very ripe, slightly alcoholic nose. Spicy, with a very fleshy texture--the tannins are silky and ripe. This will be an earlier drinker. It seems quite elegant and fleshy, and it tastes good now. 92-94 points.
