2010 Zolo "Reserve" Cabernet Sauvignon Mendoza
Review Date: 2-4-2013
Zolo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon comes from some selected vineyard sites 1,300 meters above sea level. The dry weather and the wide swing of temperatures between day and night have created its distinctive micro climates, which result in wines that are typically rich in color and ideal for aging. Also, each of these terroirs provides a different expression of fruit and varietal concentration. Crushed violets, chocolate and leather on the nose. Black and blue fruits on the palate. A nice grip of tannins for a nice long finish. Perfect wine for steak night!

Cafayate Valley is located at 1,700 metres above sea level in Northwest Argentina. One of the highest vineyard sites in the world! This lovely blend of Torrontes and Riesling has subtle and complexed notes of fruit and floral. Sweet and full bodied mouthfeel. Nice finish of mineral and acid. Perfect for any seafood dish!

Fluteau "Cuvee Reserve" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 10-26-2012
One of the hits for me at our Champagne event was Fluteau! I love the cheesy and toasty notes that come from this champagne. Coming from the wine being left to age on the lees for three years. Notes of citrus and spice in a golden yellow hue. This will make a perfect Holiday wine! At this price you can give it out to all the family. This is a Champagne will are talking about here folks.

2010 Windrun San Luis Obispo County Pinot Noir

Ken Brown is one of my favorite wine makers in Santa Barbara County! Love the balance of fruit and acidity that he creates in the cellar. Limited number of case made. From some of the best sourced fruit in Santa Barbara County! Two words lush and rich come to mind!

2000 Marques de la Concordia Crianza Rioja
Review Date: 9-30-2012
This is a modern style Rioja. Which in turn gives it that ripe New World fruit flavors. But, my main thing about this wine is it has some time in bottle. It is a rare thing anymore to find a good price wine with some bottle age. So with that New World fruit flavours combined with a savoury note and high acidity, which is more typical of the wines of the region. This really gives you some insight into the evolution of a Rioja wine.

2011 Zilliken "Butterfly" Saarburger Riesling
Review Date: 6-30-2012
I am going to say it. I think Riesling is the perfect food wine. It can pair with so many dishes. I found this one at a tasting recently. Zilliken family have been producing wine in the Saar region for more than 250 years. So beautifully balanced it will pick up any dish that you are cooking. It is that great, racy acidity that you cannot find anywhere other than Germany.

2010 Spellbound California Chardonnay
Review Date: 5-21-2012
I am not one of those people who are on the "I hate California Chardonnay" bandwagon. I think every wine has it's place and time. Bright flavors are balanced with notes of vanilla and classic oak. Perfect with any spicy Mexican food!

Scrappy's Grapefruit Bitters 5oz
Review Date: 4-30-2012
It's citrus time at the Hollywood Farmers Market. There is nothing better on a lazy Sunday than a greyhound! This grapefruit and vodka cocktail is an ideal choice for a summertime brunch. The beauty of this mixed drink is in its simplicity. But, I like to spice mine up with a little Scrappy's Grapefruit bitters. It is that little extra that goes a long way!

2009 Miguel Merino Mazuelo de Quinta Cruz Rioja
Review Date: 4-23-2012
Is one of the very few Mazuelo wines in Rioja, but also one of the rare single-estate brands in the region. This is a direct import for K&L. Joe has found another gem. Great acidity, easy drinking and a nice soft palate. I had it roast lamb. It was perfect.
