Having been born in Rio de Janeiro into a very proud French/Portuguese family, and living in France and the USA for almost 25 years, gave me the best of all worlds, one very old, and another very new. I’ve always had three different perspectives on everything growing up, three different opportunities to understand the world around me and to try to make sense of it all. From Ipanema Beach, to the bluest of seas in the Côte d'Azur and Nice, to the wonderful Big Sur. Caipirinha and Feijoada, codfish and Vinho Verde, Daube and Bandol, and the always present Rosé, and…beer for those 110 degree summertime days in Rio! I always worked in the food business, in Paris, Nice and San Francisco. While working at Jules Verne in Paris, I decided to devote my career solely to wines and eventually got my Sommelier certification through the International Sommelier Guild.

1998 Grandis, Haut-Medoc
Review Date: 1-9-2013
Wonderful choice for an aged Bordeaux. Notes of honey, coffee, cassis, gravelly dusty.
Price: $19.99
Jean-Louis Denois Pinot Noir Brut Rosé
Review Date: 12-5-2012
Delightful bubbly, brimming with strawberry and raspberries, still quite dry, but with a full flavor.
Price: $14.99
2005 Bodegas Casa Juan Señor de Lesmos Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 12-5-2012
Stunning value for a fantastic Rioja. Very classic, soft spices, incense, raisins. Medium tannins, delicious and ready now, but it will age beautifully still.
Price: $19.99
2010 XANTHOS California Red Wine
Review Date: 11-28-2012
Very nice, soft and easy-drinking, brimming with blackberry and chocolate.
Price: $17.99
2010 Jean-Louis Denois "Les Oliviers" Vin de Pays d'Oc
Review Date: 10-3-2012
This little Syrah from Denois delivers a lot of wine for very little money! It is all about the spiciness not only on the nose but on the palate as well. Nice with a pepper steak!
Price: $12.99
Wine Club
Club Price: $8.99
2007 Domaine Rolet Cremant du Jura
Review Date: 10-3-2012
One of our best bubbly from outside Champagne. Nice and friendly, fun, very versatile, and let's not forget, it comes from the obscure and yet fascinating mountainous French region of Jura. Now, that's cool as it gets!
Price: $18.99
2009 Guímaro "B2M" Mencía Ribeira Sacra
Review Date: 9-4-2012
Reminds me a lot of a great Syrah, on the exotic spices - if not in color - it has loads of blueberry and cherry fruit, with a rich palate, medium tannis and high acid to balance all that richnesss. Just delicious!
Price: $34.99
2009 Raventós i Blanc Cava Brut Reserva Penedes
Review Date: 9-4-2012
With a relatively higher dosage than most brut Cavas, the Raventos offers lots of beautiful aromatics, along with a creamy soft mouthfeel, along with exotic spices and crisp acidity. Excellent Cava!
Price: $18.99
2010 Olema Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 7-30-2012
A Cab for those looking for a step up from the everyday, but still afordable and with a great pedigree...
Price: $19.99
Elisabeth Goutorbe "Cuvée Eclatante" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 7-3-2012
This is a new Champagne for me that thanks to our buyer Gary Westby, I had the chance to taste and love it. With a fascinating nose of caramel toffee, some cocoa powder and a surprising wiff of pain-au-chocolat and cherries that brought back memories of a breakfast on a back street cafe around the Champs-Elisees. A great wine for a very elegant apperitif.
Price: $34.99
Paul-Marie et Fils Pineau de Charentes Vieux Red # 5 (750ml)
Review Date: 7-3-2012
Quite possibly one of the best dessert beverages I have EVER tasted! No kidding... Intense, viscous, guava paste, marron glacé, quince and manchego cheese (seriously), almond, marzipan, and a touch of spicy cinnamon. Not to mention pecans... Lot's of it. All of that in the glass. To be served chilled, with a variety of desserts. From a pecan or pumpkin pie to Clafoutis and even chocolate.
Price: $69.99
2011 Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc "La Gloria" Reserva Casablanca Valley
Review Date: 6-5-2012
Quintessential Summer wine this Veramonte... Crisp, light, oak-free (as it should be!). Grapefruit on the palate for sure but with a delicious spice note of ginger, and lime. A must with Ceviche.
Price: $9.99
2009 Antech "Emotion" Cremant de Limoux Brut Rosé
Review Date: 5-28-2012
I love its delicate color and its aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries. Completely Brut, and it pairs beautifully with the spicy foods or sashimi. It is also very nice as an aperitif or even after dinner as a light accompaniment to a raspberry/strawberry dessert.
Price: $14.99
Franck Bonville Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 5-2-2012
Very crispy, clean, lemony with some surprising salinity on the palate. Not at all austere as the “extra-brut” suggests. It would be very good for aperitifs before dinner.
Price: $39.99
2010 Windrun San Luis Obispo County Pinot Noir
Review Date: 3-10-2012
Solid Pinot indeed! It is all about the nice cozy, autumn spice notes and the core of fruit. This vintage is indeed much more serious and with much more depth to it. Very good!
Price: $18.99
