2013 Domaine Pas de l'Escalette "Les Petits Pas" Languedoc
Review Date: 7-24-2014
What a surprise! Languedoc with low alcohol and acidity? Powerful flavors of pepper and brambly dark berries, but all this stay ultra lifted and fresh. This is the total package. A killer option under $20 for summer quaffing.

2012 Domaine de la Tournelle "Trousseau des Corvées" Arbois
Review Date: 7-24-2014
Another outrageous wine from the magnificent Domaine De La Tournelle. Aromas of fresh soil, wild strawberries, fresh roasted beets, slight herbal quality. As with all the Tournelle wines, the focus and purity on the palate is absolutely first rate. Awesome acidity complemented by the perfect presence of a soft lengthy tannin. A wonderful effort.

2011 Domaine de la Tournelle "Fleur de Savagnin" Arbois
Review Date: 7-24-2014
An absolute stunner. The perfect cross over to get your friends who are afraid of Jura into this very special category. The complexity and focus is unparalleled for this style. While it's aged for years in barrel, there's only the slightest nutty oxidized aroma. The freshness and purity unlike anything else. Don't think just drink.

Everytime I open a bottle of the Bourdy Rouge, I do a snorty laugh cry. It's sooo good. He's sooo old school. It's my perfect wine. Don't buy this, I want it all.

2013 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Pinot Noir Marlborough
Review Date: 7-24-2014
TWR is coming up. Solid little offering for what will surely one day be known world wide as one of Marlborough's best. Right now be one of the lucky few who know how special these wines are. Top quality.

2010 Domaine Berthoumieu "Charles de Batz" Madiran
Review Date: 7-24-2014
This is about as approachable as any Madiran I've ever had. Clearly made in the "modern" style, but not lacking in structure. It will soften over the next few years rather than the several decades of more traditional Madiran. That said, if you're looking for something bold and structured to pair with gamey grilled meat, look no further.

2010 Louis Magnin Gamay Vin de Savoie
Review Date: 7-24-2014
A wild gamay from one of Savoy's most respected producers. This stuff only alludes to the famous gamay being produced 100km to the west. The nose is like the most concentrated red flowers and in the very background the slightest Chanel No. 9 (in a good way). The palate is all wild red fruit picked off the forest floor. This is an experience to say the least.

2013 Château de Ripaille Vin de Savoie-Ripaille
Review Date: 7-24-2014
If you want to be refreshed instantly then drink this delightfully crispy and minerally white from the Savoie made from 100% Chasselas from a 1000 year old estate! This reminds me of skiing down the Swiss Alps getting fresh chucks of snow in my face! Yes its just like that!

2012 JP & JF Quénard "Anne de la Biguerne" Vin de Savoie-Chignin
Review Date: 7-24-2014
Freshness abounds! Bright mineral, low fruit and clean as a whistle. From the magnificent town of Chignin, the quintessential savoyard Village, this is why these people eat so much melted cheese. On the palate more mineral, tons of pithy tangerine. Clearly a top quality producer.

2012 Franck Peillot "Altesse" Roussette de Bugey-Montagnieu
Review Date: 7-24-2014
Another fabulous vin de savoie!Peillot is making wildly impressive wines of impeccable intensity and finesse. Bruised mirabelle, fresh fuji apples, slight citrus peel. All that flavor is perfectly framed in a textural and perfectly weighted core. If you're smart you'll buy all of this. If you don't I will.

2013 Château de Ripaille Vin de Savoie-Ripaille
Review Date: 7-24-2014
This splendid little Ripaille is what Savoie is all about. Subtle but punchy! Not fruity at all with great focus and a lovely lemony mineral quality. Solid aperitif at a great price.

2010 Seghesio Barolo
Review Date: 7-24-2014

This is an absolutely delicious wine and remarkably drinkable now! The Brothers Seghesio have really knocked it out of the park with this wine, aromatically enchanting, full of strawberry and accented by hints of earth and leather. On the palate the wine is supple and smooth with a wonderful palate presence and as more of the complex fruit begins to blossom it is followed by a truffle, smoky, woodsy character that is full of spice while it begins to show a delicate veil of tannin in the finish. Although this wine is drinkable now you’ll be able to drink it over the next 3-6 years. I love this wine with Porcini laced pasta or risotto or with braised meats.

2012 Viña Robles "Estate" Paso Robles Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 7-23-2014
With its alluvial sandy loam soil, good drainage and excellent exposure, the Jardine Vineyard possesses ideal conditions for growing crisp and flavorful Sauvignon Blanc, and this affordably tasty version reveals why Paso Robles has become the new California hotspot for fine wine cultivation. Tropical fruits from guava to passionfruit, highlighted by lemon and grapefruit "citricality" and a touch of minerality perform a lively dance number upon the palate. A lovely, versatile wine for parties and summer picnics with family and friends. Cheers!

2009 Rocca di Montegrossi "San Marcellino" Chianti Classico
Review Date: 7-23-2014
Reviewer image Reviewer image Reviewer image Reviewer image Reviewer image
When Marco Riscasoli’s Great, Great Grandfather Bettino Ricasoli created the original Chianti recipes he would have loved this wine. He originally had three wines, one for current drinking, one for midterm drinking and one powerful wine to age for a decade plus, the San Marcellino is the latter. Mountain Sangiovese fruit just bursts from this wine, what does that mean? Backbone, concentration, focus and power are all squeezed tightly together and then wrapped around the core of this wine where they hold the dark fruit, smoldering fire, underbrush and anise highlighted by wild marasca cherry notes. On the palate the wine shows muscle, but it’s lithe not tight and the flavors gradually expand the length of your tongue and remain enough to really give you the impression this wine is trying to make an impression. I would decant for 4-6 hours ahead of time if you wish to drink now but the best spot will be in your cellar for another 5+ years, you won’t regret it!
