Sean Thackrey "Pleiades XXIII" Old Vine Red Blend
Review Date: 3-10-2015
A little of this, a little of that. Throw it all together and you Pleiades. The 23rd version of the famous wine from Sean Thackrey is better than ever. Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah.... I'm sure it's all in there. The art is in the blend and Sean Thackrey is a master blender. Enjoy today or 5 years from now. Beautiful.

2014 Copain "Tous Ensemble" Anderson Valley Rosť
Review Date: 3-10-2015
Yet another beautiful Rose' from our friends at Copain. Light pink in color, the wine is bright and fresh with lovely light strawberry and pomegranate. The acidity is lively and the mid palate has a little more flashiness than the 2013. This wine won't be around for long.

Carlos Moya of Vinos Unico continues his pursuit of great California wines at fantastic prices. The man who gave you Redart and Amplio now gives you a delicious 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon. Bright dark fruit balanced with hints of cedar and vanilla. A true bargain in California Cabernet Sauvignon.

2012 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 3-9-2015
In my top 5 producers of Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley, the 2012 is a beautiful medium bodied wine with vibrant blue and black fruit, tobacco, cedar with just a touch of red fruit and vanilla. The wine is young and I would suggest 7-13 years of aging.

2013 Shafer "Red Shoulder Ranch" Carneros Chardonnay
Review Date: 3-4-2015
A California legend, the Red Shoulder Ranch has been wowing Chardonnay fans since 1994. No malolactic fermentation but the lees help add depth and creaminess. Stone fruit, citrus and a cornucopia of other flavors nicely integrated together with a touch of acid and cedar.

2011 St. Clement "Oroppas" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Review Date: 3-2-2015
The 2011 vintage of the St. Clement Oroppas is a fantastic wine that makes me have a little hope for some of the 2011 Napa Cabernet. The wine is a blend of Diamond Mountain, Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder, Rutherford and Spring Mountain fruit. They achieved some lovely extraction for such a cool vintage. Nice flavors of mocha, plum, cedar and vanilla harmonize well with the fruit and make a delicious wine for the next 5 years.

2012 Walter Hansel "The Meadows" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 2-24-2015
A relative newcomer to the roster of Walter Hansel wines, The Meadows is one heck of a wine. Citrus and stone fruit built with malolactic fermentation and lees stirring. A little cedar wraps the wine nicely with a touch of vanilla and zippy acidity. Russian River Valley Chardonnay at its very best.

2013 Kistler "Sonoma Mountain" Chardonnay
Review Date: 2-24-2015
Kistler has been a legendary producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay since 1979. Sourcing fruit from some of California's top vineyards like Hudson, McCrea and Hyde among others, the quality of the fruit is second to none. With very limited production and high demand, Kistler is one of the most difficult wines to acquire. The 2013 Sonoma Mountain bottling is a great opportunity to taste an example of this brilliant producer and what to expect from the 2013 vintage. A blend of several different vineyards, this wine shows great depth, richness with just enough acidity to balance it out. A very enjoyable wine indeed.

2012 Lyeth Sonoma County Meritage
Review Date: 2-24-2015
Year after year, this Cabernet based wine beats most wines in this price category in quality. Vibrant black and blue fruit wrapped by soft tannin, spice and just touches of Mocha and cedar. Lyeth was founded over 25 years ago and now is part of the BOISSET FAMILY ESTATES.

2012 Alban "Patrina" Central Coast Syrah
Review Date: 2-19-2015
The King of California Syrah? Many people think so. Alban Vineyards is one of the finest Central Coast Syrah producers. This is not a wine for the faint of heart. Powerful but textured with layers of flavors that show the nuance of what the Syrah grape can give you. Drink within 5-7 years.

2012 Plumpjack "Estate" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 2-17-2015
Rich and concentrated with intense black and blue fruits surrounded by layers of cedar, vanilla, chocolate and a touch of raspberry. This is a great effort from one of Oakville's finest. I would drink young but it will hold for 4-6 years.

2010 Zaca Mesa Santa Ynez Valley Syrah
Review Date: 2-17-2015
A lush blueberry pie combined with hints of smoked meat, cinnamon, vanilla and cedar. There is a lot of wine here for the price and like the Andrew Murray Syrah we e-mailed a month or so ago, not to be missed.
