2013 McManis California Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 2-4-2015
Straight up, a great deal in California Cabernet. Bright black fruit layers layers of flavor and spice with just a hint of vanilla and cedar. You're not going to take it to Gary Danko, but for an everyday wine, this is a steal.

2013 Calera Central Coast Chardonnay
Review Date: 1-29-2015
Josh Jensen, owner and winemaker for Calera, has been making inspired wines for close to 40 years. The Central coast Chardonnay is always a great first step to understanding the wines from Calera.Sourced from several different vineyards, this Chardonnay is clean and fresh with citrus and apple wrapped in lovely acidity. Finishes long and fresh, this wine is a great value and worth a try.

2012 Limerick Lane Russian River Valley Zinfandel
Review Date: 1-29-2015
The wine is spectacular without a doubt. A perfect combination of of bright, forward ripeness with a perfect combination of multiple spices including cinnamon, black pepper, lavender and marjoram. Lovely acidity and soft tannin make this a wine for tonight or two years from now. Jake and Scott Bilbro have taken the Limerick Lane wines to a whole other level. The wine is very limited so pick up a couple bottles while you can.

2010 Maison Blanche, Médoc
Review Date: 1-15-2015
This is a fantastic, Merlot-based Bordeaux at a fantastic price. The wine is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from the fabulous 2010 vintage. Red and blue ripe fruit with healthy notes of chocolate, tobacco and cedar wrapped by brilliant acidity. Tannins are alive and on the harder side but an hour in a decanter and this baby will open up and taste great.

2013 Banshee Sonoma County Pinot Noir
Review Date: 1-7-2015
Since the 2008 Sonoma Coast and Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noirs, we have been great supporters of the Banshee label. Whether it's the everyday wines or the single vineyard wines, the quality is second to none. We have always believed in the label and the great people behind it. The 2013 Banshee is a beautiful, predominately red fruited Pinot Noir with lovely notes of forest floor, black tea and rhubarb with just a touch of plum and cedar. The 2013 reminds me of the 2010 and 2011 with it's higher acid levels, candied red fruit and less blue and black fruit. Fresh, vibrant with lovely layered flavors. One heck of a Pinot Noir for $ 23.00

2013 Charles Smith "Kung Fu Girl" Columbia Valley Riesling
Review Date: 11-3-2014
Charles Smith knows how to make wine that always outperforms the price point. This is a user friendly Riesling vintage after vintage. Fresh stone fruits, great acidity and just a touch off dry. If you need a glass for take away Chinese or Thai, a picnic or just something on a Wednesday night, this is your girl.

2011 Robert Craig Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 9-22-2014
If I had to pick a Napa mountain that I love the wine from, Howell Mountain would be at the top of my list. Dunn, Ladera, Neal Family, O'Shaugnessey and of course Robert Craig. Bright blue fruit combined with chocolate, menthol, pepper and cedar. The wine is deep and powerful with incredible length. A cellar candidate for sure.

2012 Viña Robles "Estate" Paso Robles Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 8-19-2014
Vina Robles is regularly seen at K&L. A winery with quality wines at fantastic prices. Everything produced by Vina Robles is from their estate vineyards. The Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Jardine Vineyard, which is a 280-acre vineyard planted between 1997-2000. The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc is a clean, crisp white with lovely acidity. Citrus, stone fruit a hint of richness in the mid-palate gives this wine a lovely mouthfeel.

2012 Melville "Estate" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Review Date: 7-30-2014
Melville was established by Ron Melville and his two sons in 1996, developing 82 acres just outside of Lompoc, California. Planted to mostly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this vineyard has become a prized grower/producer in the Santa Rita Hills appellation. With winemaker Greg Brewer at the helm, the wines have become some of the most sought after in the region. The 2012 Estate Pinot Noir is an explosion of bright red fruit, Asian spice and cinnamon. Touches of cedar, mint and orange peel add to this silky, opulent Pinot Noir.

2012 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 7-1-2014
This iconic Napa Valley producer has done well with this 2012 Knights Valley. Sourced from vineyards in Sonoma County, Beringer has been making this wine for years. If you love California Cabernet, this wine is for you. Big, bright and extracted with generous spice. Vanilla and cedar are generous with the tannins being very soft and approachable. Enjoy now or for the next 5 years.

2011 Fossil Point Edna Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 6-26-2014
We have seen a tremendous amount of good Chardonnay coming from the Edna Valley region over the last couple of vintages. Fossil Point needs to be included in that group. Light cedar and a touch of butter married well with bright tropical fruit, and a lovely touch of acidity rounds it out. This is a wonderful Chardonnay for the price and should be enjoyed over the next 1-2 years.

2012 DuMol Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Review Date: 6-26-2014
Dumol offers you a tasty treat with this 2012 Chardonnay. Winemaker Andy Smith has been weaving magic at Dumol for 14 years, but the 2012 wines could be his masterpiece. Power and finesse combine nicely. The bright fruit is wrapped with soft acidity and just a touch of cedar. Apple, pear and a hint of melon with lovely hints of spice. A touch of mineral is found throughout. A wine that can age 2-3 years or opened tonight and enjoyed as well.

2012 DuMol Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 6-26-2014
We have been waiting with bated breath for many of the 2012 wines to hit the market and the 2012 Dumol wines are at the top of many a list. The Pinot Noir explodes out of the glass with lovely red fruits and rose petals with just a touch of clove and cinnamon. The mouth bursts with ripe red fruits, cola, cinnamon, mushroom and a touch of cedar. This is a wine with great backbone and balance, a wine of amazing grace and style. It's one of the prettiest wines I have tasted in a long time and probably the best Russian River Pinot Noir I have tasted from Dumol. Andy Smith has found the promise land with this one. The wine is approachable right away but can age for 3-5 years. Dumol followers will be very pleased. If you haven't tasted the wines before, now is the time.

2012 Kirkham Peak Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir
Review Date: 4-15-2014
A wine made for us by a respected winery that we are huge fans of. This is a bright, rich wine with lovely red fruit, baking spice, leather and cinnamon. A fruit forward wine with a nice backbone to give it balance. An excellent example of the 2012 vintage from the Santa Lucia Highlands.
