2011 Public House White Wine
Review Date: 12-1-2013
Old vine riesling, gerwurtztraminer and pinot gris? Sign me up! This lovely, quaffable white actually tastes and smells like riesling, which for me personally, is crucial when selecting a riesling that comes from anywhere outside of Germany. Bright citrus notes, slate, mineral, stone fruit with refreshingly zippy acidity, with a teeeeeeeny hint of sweetness. At the staff tasting where we were introduced to this wine, I think every staff memeber left the room and immediately bought half a case. Hooray!

Bruno Michel "Les Roses" Brut Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 10-26-2013
Every time I taste this Champagne, I want to sit and linger with it for the rest of the afternoon. It's a totally nerdy rose, unlike anything else we have. Barrel fermented, all Pinot Meunier and aged in bottle for a year, this particular bottling is all from 2006 fruit. Red cherry, spice, vanilla, leather, funky earth with medium plus acidity and a long finish. What a fabulous, fun rose Champagne!

My go-to closing beer! When my colleagues are sipping brews from our unique selection, I sip my Crabbie's. This puppy tastes like alcoholic, fresh ginger ale. I love it! Zesty, fresh ginger with hints of citrus, I drink this whenever I can! Y-U-M!

Louis Bouillot Cremant de Bourgogne "Perle d'Aurore" Brut Rosé
Review Date: 9-3-2013
Man, I love this wine. I had this again the other evening with pank-crusted salmon and a spinach salad, and it was light, pretty and delicious. Soft raspberry, strawberry and citrus with the tiniest hint of sweetness. The acidity really worked with my salmon's fattiness. Of course, the wine's pink sparkly glimmer on the dinner table in my wine glasses added to the ambiance. Stock up for birthday celebrations, brunch, baby showers, or just because it's a Tuesday night!

2001 La Rioja Alta "904" Gran Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 7-16-2013
The power and elegance of the 2001 Gran Reservas never cease to amaze me. The 904 shows stewed red cherry, sandalwood, red currant, cola, spice, meat and leather. The acidity is bright, sassy and lingering. Elegant, graceful and fresh, the 904 drinks beautifully now, and will continue to develop for at least another 10-15 years- I can't wait to try it as it ages! Grab as much as you can- try a bottle every year or every 5 years to witness the incredible development of tempranillo. Amazing.

2011 Beckmen "Cuvée Le Bec" Santa Ynez Rhône Blend
Review Date: 7-15-2013
Winemaker Steve Beckmen and his team begin to build the Cuvee Le Bec every year at harvest. They get to know the grapes during the growing season and decide upon co-fermentations when the grapes come in. Some years, the wine is more Syrah, sometimes it is more Grenache or Mourvedre. There is a consistent character to the wine, though each vintage speaks clearly. More recently, the Cuvee Le Bec has been Syrah dominant, as Beckmen feels that it creates a more elegant, balanced wine.

2010 Clos Pepe "Estate" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Review Date: 3-19-2013
The 2009 Pinot Noir shows what pinot noir can do in the Santa Rita Hills under the care of Wes Hagen, vineyard manager and brilliant winemaker at Clos Pepe. As Hagen puts it, "Santa Rita Hills is a Chardonny AVA famous for Pinot Noir". Nothing could be truer with this 2009 Estate pinot. Red cherry, raspberry, cassis, mineral. Medium plus acidity, well-balanced, delicate, with an elegance and transparency that demonstrates Hagen's talent. A very special wine, to be enjoyed with food at table (we had it with cassoulet & duck confit with Wes) or tucked away to enjoy in 5-10 years!
