2009 Il Valentiano "Campo di Marzo" Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 10-1-2014
Just when you thought that we had found all of the amazing, tiny producers in Montalcino to bring you incredible Brunello, Greg St. Clair has scored another coup with the Il Valentiano wines. Valentina and Fabbiolo blended their names together to create the name- and we are proud to say that the lovely estate near Caprili is quite the find. This 2009 is showing beautifully right now, but would easily quite happily slumber in your cellar for a while, too. Open it now and decant it, and it will delight you with notes of red cherry, cassis, spice, stewed cherries and earthiness. Medium plus acidity and medium tannin, this elegant, classy Brunello will not disappoint you!

Richer and deeper than its "Harmonie" counterpart, this is still classic, racy Muscadet. Pear, apple, mineral and citrus with medium plus acidity. Yum!

2006 Miguel Merino "Vitola" Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 8-7-2014
The juicy goodness that is Miguel Merino wine just keeps on comin'! Red plum, cassis, and blackberry with notes of meat and game. Elegantly integrated oak and tannin with balanced medium plus acidity. A really lovely wine from Miguel Merino, who continues to demonstrate that his wines can age with the subtle grace of the best of Rioja.

2013 Zudugarai "Amats" Getariako Txakolina
Review Date: 8-7-2014
Our friends at Zudugarai Amats bring it again! Zippy freshness with a hint of fizz and low alcohol- delish! Lime zest, mineral, green pear with a lively acidity that makes me reach for the bottle to pour another glass. It's time to kick off your shoes, break out the aged Manchego, olives and Marcona almonds, grab a glass, and hit the patio- it's Txak-O'Clock somewhere!

OK people, have a little faith in us, here--this wine is incredibly quaffable and delicious! Perfect for a summer picnic in the park, in the ice bucket poolside, on a hike up to a beautiful sunset or even backpacking in the woods, this little half bottle in a can delivers all of the freshness you would hope for. Melon, citrus, peach and medium acidity! I'm in! Just be careful--it's two glasses in one can!

2013 Ameztoi Getariako Txakolina
Review Date: 6-26-2014
It's summertime once again, and for me--it's Txakoli time! This is one zippy little puppy--classically Txakolina notes of pear, citrus and mineral with a light fizz and tons of refreshing acidity! Low alcohol at 10.5%. I'm heading to the store now for some Manchego & Marcona almonds to get ready for patio entertaining with this fun vino. Just add good music, great friends, and lots of laughter!

2012 Suñer Bibiloni Ca Sa Padrino "Montenegro" Binissalem (Mallorca)
Review Date: 6-26-2014
Red wine from Mallorca, you say? Why, yes indeed! We have had this pretty little wine on our shelves for some time, but revisiting it this week, I was struck again by how lovely it is. I would like to think it shows the light-hearted joyfulness of the island- red cherry, dried apricots, tarragon, and dried orange peel with medium plus acidity and soft, easy tannin. Fun, bright, fresh and very easy to drink. Crazy price for such a great wine!

2011 Limerick Lane Russian River Valley Syrah/Grenache
Review Date: 2-12-2014
Red cherry, spice, mineral, wet clay, blackberry and red and black currants, with medium plus acidity and medium plus tannin. None of the floral or overripe fruit sappiness which can weigh down Syrah-Grenache blends in the Rhone, this quite well-structured, balanced Syrah-Grenache blend gives any Chateauneuf du Pape a run for its money, hands down. Way to go, Limerick Lane!
