2013 Domaine de Millet Cotes de Gascogne Blanc   | Approved
Review Date: 10-27-2014
While exploring more white wines, I was introduced to this by a fellow staff member. It has a great peach smell with a cider-like crisp to it. This is a great find, plus it is less than ten dollars!

An amazing value for a delightful little wine. Apple, pear, mineral with a textural note absent in many inexpensive Chardonnay. Medium plus acidity and very quaffable!

Glendronach 12 year old Distillery Bottling Single Malt Whisky 750ml   | Public Pending Approval
Review Date: 10-25-2014
This whisky just keeps getting better, in my estimation. Rich and sherried, reminiscent of summer and winter treats: caramel apples and roasted, candied nuts. The Glendronach 12 has spicy, rum-raisin aromas, roasted nuts--filberts, Brazil nuts--and baked apple and pear notes, which repeat on the palate, so cotton-candy smooth, and the fruit flavors deepen toward the dry, smoky finish. Similar to: Aberlour 16. More flavor than: Glenlivet 12. Fiercer, less smooth than: Macallan 12 or Glenmorangie 10. More easygoing but in a somewhat similar profile to: Glendronach Allardice, Aberlour A'Bunadh. A standby, a classic.

2012 Ad Lib (Larry Cherubino) "Avant Gardening" Malbec / Cabernet Western Australia   | Public Pending Approval
Review Date: 10-25-2014
This Malbec is such a steal; a must-have for Malbec lovers. Its juicy acidity and fine tannins are well balanced with ripe, dark fruits of fresh blackberries and figs and beautiful notes of spices such as black licorice, cracked pepper and clove. Certainly the best Aussie Malbec I’ve ever had!

2012 Greywacke Pinot Noir Marlborough   | Public Pending Approval
Review Date: 10-25-2014
The 2012 Greywacke Pinot Noir could easily be compared to a Russian River Pinot Noir that costs twice the price! Rich dark cherry and raspberry fruits, with forest floor earthy notes, and freshly ground spices envelope your palate. This wine has a lot of structure and yet is elegant at the same time. While this wine is lovely now, I believe it will get better with at least 2-5 more years of aging.

2012 Ad Lib (Larry Cherubino) "Avant Gardening" Malbec / Cabernet Western Australia   | Public Pending Approval
Review Date: 10-25-2014
The “Avant Gardening” Malbec is another great value wine from Ad Lib! Juicy dark cherry and plum fruits are the dominant flavors, but it’s not overly sweet as the fruit is balanced out with violet and soft spices. This wine is full bodied, but the tannins are well integrated, which makes this wine very easy to drink alone or with food. Stock up on this wine for your holiday cocktail party!

2012 Ad Lib (Larry Cherubino) "Hen & Chicken" Chardonnay Western Australia   | Public Pending Approval
Review Date: 10-25-2014
This Chardonnay is a steal and just in time for the holidays! The Ad Lib “Hen and Chicken” is a fruit-forward style Chardonnay, which is bursting with stone fruits and white flower notes. There is bright acidity and minerality which freshens up the palate. I highly recommend stocking up on this wine before this gem is gone!

What a price! This will be making a lot of party guests happy this year. Great medium intensity and concentration with nicely balanced acidity. The wood is there for texture only, not a big oaky component and the entirety comes off as a much more expensive wine. My go-to holiday white!

2012 Ad Lib (Larry Cherubino) "Hen & Chicken" Chardonnay Western Australia
Review Date: 10-24-2014
Get in while the gettin's good with this bottle. This is the best Chardonnay deal since we found the Bernier all those years ago. This is fresh, stonefruit-driven, refreshing white wine with character and nuance for $12.99. This is case wine. This is party wine. This is Thanksgiving wine. You roll into the party and people think you spend $25 a bottle because it tastes so darn good. Your secret is safe with us though. Love it.

2012 FRAM Pinotage Citrusdal Mountain
Review Date: 10-24-2014
Pinotage that tastes like elegant, well-made Zinfandel or Rioja? Is it just that I've never tasted good pinotage before? I thought it was supposed to be all smokey and gamey and intense. This tastes like high-end Storybook Zin, or Muga Rioja. A total gamechanger for me.

2013 FRAM Shiraz Swartland
Review Date: 10-24-2014
Rich and meaty, but never sweet or over the top. I usually avoid Shiraz at the sub-$20 price point because it tends to be too sweet or rich. The Fram is super complex, however, as the fruit soon turns into iron and a gamey note. Fun stuff.

Unbeatable for the money. Everything you want in high-quality, clean, unoaked, fresh, inexpensive Chardonnay. The purity of the mineral notes are almost Chablis-like. A HOT deal.
