2012 Château de Maligny Chablis
Review Date: 6-13-2014
A super value Chablis that expresses its uniqueness. This wine is elegant, crisp and well-structured. The 2012 Chablis is chalky with a mineral quality. The wine is mouth-filling and full, with a smooth and supple finish.

2010 Seghesio Barolo
Review Date: 6-8-2014
From the Great 2010 vintage this wine brings aromas of dried cherry, and rose’s and on the palate you will find raspberries, tar, tobacco, truffle, and a little Langhe dust with a good tannin structure. I love the elegance to this wine, and with all of its varietal purity here, I still might want to decant it for a couple hours or can even age for a couple of years (up to five or six years if you are that patient), and I am thinking it would show best with a wild mushroom risotto or a barbecue tri-tip.

On the palate you will find, black cherries with a touch of earth. In the mouth, the wine is Medium-bodied, with fine concentration, and soft tannins. I give this two thumbs up, a perfect wine for the Burgers or grilled portabella.

Concentrated Sangiovese fruit with layers of subtle earth and mineral scents in a soft and forward body. Wonderful to drink now!

2013 Terre da Vino "Masseria dei Carmelitani" Gavi di Gavi
Review Date: 3-20-2014
This is Cortese (the region is Gavi in Piedmont) it has very delicate perfumes of apples and apricots. It is un-oaked and crisp, with citrus and peach fruit and notes of herbs and is wonderfully delicate but with great structure, love its length & balance as well as its complexity. Salute Guido!

2008 Rocca di Montegrossi "San Marcellino" Chianti Classico
Review Date: 3-20-2014
This boasts a deep ruby/purple color in addition to sweet vanilla (from French oak), and lots of black cherries, raspberries, and currants with hints spice, Tuscan dust and minerals. There is a great texture on this full- bodied wine; it has a long, authoritative finish that combines power with elegance. So… pull the cork a few hours before you throw pork roast on the Q’ and enjoy the first days of spring.

2012 Ermacora Ribolla Gialla Colli Orientali del Friuli
Review Date: 3-20-2014
Ribolla Gialla enjoys a long history as one of Friuli's oldest indigenous vines, this extremely unusual wine would be worth buying solely on account of its very low price, but once you have tried this unusual grape varietals, you be back for more. The palate is intense and full with a supple body, echoing the wine's varietals character, exotic and honeyed bliss, floral notes, hints of flint and citrus, delivering several complex layers that transform as they evolve in the glass, the finish is dry with lots of acidity and pleasantly fresh.

2012 Ermacora Friulano Colli Orientali del Friuli
Review Date: 3-20-2014
One of our BEST VALUE wines at K & L’s! As most of you know this wine from past vintages and it’s been too long since we had this wine in a let me just put it plain and simple IT ROCKS! This “Friulano” is full body ( a little crisper than past vintages) with ripe pear and red apple on the palate and on the very long finish I find a hint of almond, balanced with crisp acidity and is very aromatic with great length. This will work great with a cornucopia of vegetarian dishes.

2010 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva
Review Date: 3-10-2014
I met Fabrizio Bianchi from Monsanto in the early eighties and have been a fan and follower ever since. Mr. Bianchi is certainly one of the earliest pioneers in trying to change the image of Chianti as well as the grapes involved. Fabrizio is a big believer in Sangiovese, the main grape in Chianti and the backbone of most Tuscan wines. He was one of the first in Chianti to make wines 100% Sangiovese in the early '70s. The terroir of this region is evident and expressed consistently, spicy, mineral laden, complex fruits and good acidity. I love this 2010, but be warned! It will go quick!

2008 La Velona Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 2-21-2014
I gave this two stars: A beautifully layered, expressive wine bursting with sweet, ripe strawberries and black cherries intermingled with subtle earth and toasted oak notes, minerals and a hint of dark chocolate on the finish; round and ripe tannins and a long aftertaste. Decant for about an hour.

2009 Viña Eguía Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 2-4-2014
There is plenty of fruit, good acidity, soft tannin structure, some minerality and a lengthy finish. The combination of blue/dark fruit and the black cherry comes from the Tempranillo. I also find some tar and roses on the lengthy finish.

2009 Cantine Ascheri Barolo
Review Date: 12-19-2013
This wine brings it with aromas of dried cherry and roses. On the palate you will find raspberries, tar, tobacco, truffle and a little Piedmont dust, with a good tannin structure. I love the elegance and varietal purity of this Barolo. I recommended decanting it for an hour or so, and think it would show best with mushroom risotto or a tri-tip.

2011 Cantina Terlan "Vorberg" Pinot Bianco Riserva
Review Date: 10-25-2013
This is from a hillside in the town of Terlano in the Alto Adige where the soil is sandy, gravely and calcareous. A great place to plant grapes? This is what makes this so unique and the wines of this region unique as well. This Pinot Bianco is full-bodied, delicately fragrant and mildly floral, ripe honeydew melon and bartlett pear and lots of minerality balanced with acidity this can keep very easily over the next 5 years. A Great wine to serve for the winter holidays
