2007 St. Nikolaus Hospital Cardinal Cusanus Stiftswein Bernkastler Badstube Riesling Hochgewächs
(out of stock)
Review Date: 4-14-2011
Very sweet without much acidity or minerals to balance it out.
Price: $11.99
2005 Odoardi "Savuto"
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-29-2011
An odd-tasting and rather unpleasant wine, with no noticeable fruit to speak of, just overpowering flavors of musty wood, caraway seed, and kerosene.
Price: $12.99
2008 San Giuliano Moscato d'Asti
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-29-2011
Light, fizzy, moderately sweet and redolent of apricots. Simply delicious.
Price: $8.99
2008 Ermacora Pinot Bianco
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-29-2011
Dry, fruity, and aromatic. Reminds me of Muscadet. A very nice value at $9.99.
Price: $9.99
2007 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-24-2011
This is a decent but ordinary Cotes du Rhone -- a reasonable value at this price, with characteristic pepper and leather or tobacco. There's not a lot there in terms of fruit or floral notes. I can't imagine why Robert Parker and Stephen Tanzer would give this rave reviews.
Price: $11.99
2010 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages Nouveau
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-21-2011
Pleasant to begin with, but after the bottle has been open overnight it developed a strong, unpleasant aroma and taste of banana. This wine is fading; drink it now or don't drink it at all.

2009 Domaine les Grands Bois "Cuvee les Trois Soeurs" Cotes du Rhone
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-17-2011
This is a bitter wine with predominant notes of tar, leather, and earth. It might mellow with age, but right now it's difficult to drink, and I don't feel that way about too many Cotes du Rhones.

2008 Tabali Pinot Noir Reserva Limari Valley
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-14-2011
A well-balanced pinot with intense fruit of tart cherry and floral notes that might be rose petal but also could be the orange peel that K&L noted. At $12 it's a very reasonable value. Yesterday I tried a glass and stored the corked bottle overnight in the fridge, and today the flavors had come together in a tasty harmony. This will benefit from a light chilling and an hour or two to breathe.
Price: $11.99
2008 JC Cellars "Smoke & Mirrors" Red Blend
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-14-2011
According to the JC Cellars website, 558 cases of this wine were produced, not 158 cases.
Price: $19.99
2003 Fromm "La Strada" Pinot Noir Marlborough New Zealand
(out of stock)
Review Date: 1-9-2011
A pleasing, somewhat dry, well-balanced pinot that is holding up fairly well despite its age. This is a good value for drinking now; in another year it will have faded.

2006 Penfolds Limited Release "Koonunga Hill Seventy-Six" Shiraz-Cabernet South Australia

Review Date: 1-2-2011
Bland, simple, and sweet. The best thing about the Penfolds Limited Release Koonunga Hill is the gorgeous label. I enjoyed it more the second day.

2007 Domaine des Nugues Fleurie "Le Vieux Benitier", Giles Gelin
(out of stock)
Review Date: 12-17-2010
Not bad for $12, but nothing special. It's so delicate that it is hard to detect much fruit or other flavors of note.

2006 Poitevin, Médoc
(out of stock)
Review Date: 12-8-2010
The description by K&L is right on: the 2006 Poitevin is fresh, fruity, well-balanced, and highly drinkable. A nice value for Bordeaux in this price range.
