Pleasant wine that is especially good in warm to hot weather. It has a nice balance that doesn't fade as you drink.

2009 Castillo de Monseran Garnacha Cariñena
(out of stock)
Review Date: 9-21-2011
This wine (at this price) is pleasant enough for casual drinking, but is rather thin on flavor. The 2007 vintage from the same winemaker had more depth and character. It is unlikely that further aging will improve this wine. While it would pair well with a mild cheese or appetizer, it would not stand up to any hearty foods.

2009 Artazuri Garnacha Navarra
(out of stock)
Review Date: 9-18-2011
This wine is well balanced, has a great nose along with a very dense color. It is full bodied garnacha with beautiful fruit tones and aromas. It is one of many wonderful wines from Spain that are bargain priced and super values. I purchased only two bottles initially, but will be back for more.

2006 Mount Horrocks "Watervale" Riesling Clare Valley South Australia
(out of stock)
Review Date: 8-25-2011
This is a full in the mouth wine with aromas of grapefruit, lemon, pineapple and a hint of stony mineral. It has a depth of flavor and that lingers on the tongue. It seems to have aged beautifully in the bottle.

2007 Henry's Drive "Dead Letter Office" Shiraz Padthaway South Australia
(out of stock)
Review Date: 7-19-2011
A great wine from start to finish with plenty of rich berry flavors and real grip. This is one that should be served with hearty dishes that can stand up to the full depth and strength of this wine.
Price: $17.99
2009 Domaine de Gournier Grenache Vin de Pays des Cévennes
(out of stock)
Review Date: 3-11-2011
Pleasant enough for a casual drinking wine, but there is not a great deal of depth or character. Being a little thin on flavor it would make a good starter wine for those who are not yet ready for a more intense, full bodied red wine. And, although it would not stand up to any hearty foods, it might go well with a mild cheese or light appetizer.

2009 Camino de Navaherreros Garnacha Vinos de Madrid
(out of stock)
Review Date: 12-7-2010
I served this wine on Thanksgiving expecting a much more flavorful wine based on the reviews. I, and several others, found the wine to be thin on color, aroma and taste. It was certaintly not a bad wine. In fact, it was well balanced and smooth to the palate, but it lacked any depth or character. I have more of this to try so I could be back with a revision if the next round changes my perception.

2005 Celler de Capcanes "Mas Donis" Barrica Montsant
(out of stock)
Review Date: 11-29-2010
The first aroma that is evident in this wine is the musty smell. It tends to be a put off until you taste the wine. Although there is still a trace, the aroma and flavor now move to that of a deep red and hardy fruit. I definitely disagree with Parker's 91 rating and would think something in the mid 80's is more appropriate.

2005 Bodegas Castano "Solanera Vinas Viejas" Yecla
(out of stock)
Review Date: 11-16-2010
WOW! What a bargain at this price. I see that other reviews suggest that you drink it immediately or let it have some air time. I have tried both and I find it works both ways. So either drink it upon opening or let it sit for a while, but do give it a try. As one reviewer noted, storage may be important if you are planning to hold this wine for any length of time.

2006 Campo Viejo Tempranillo Crianza Rioja
(out of stock)
Review Date: 11-16-2010
A little on the light side for a full throttle Rioja, but still a very well balanced and smooth tasting wine. The initial sip presents a rich and pleasant flavor and all the way to the finish there is no fade. An excellent wine for a variety of medium flavored food dishes and fine on its own. I have been back to K&L for more of this one.

2006 Hacienda Molleda Garnacha Cariñena
(out of stock)
Review Date: 6-6-2010
I have become quite impressed with the inexpensive wines from Spain, especially the garnacha. This one had a great nose along with a very dense color. It is full bodied garnacha with beautiful fruit tones and aromas. In a recent blind tasting, along with five other comparably priced Spanish wines, it was one of the two top favorites.

2008 Benaza Mencía Monterrei
(out of stock)
Review Date: 4-24-2010
An exceptionally fine wine with light to medium body and a smooth and well balanced flavor. The initial sip is a full and rich berry taste that remains through to the finish. A perfect wine for a warm afternoon, a cool evening or you name it.

2007 Las Rocas de San Alejandro Garnacha Calatayud
(out of stock)
Review Date: 12-16-2009
A wine dark in color and medium to heavy in body. It was tight when first opened, but with a little breathing time was pretty much as described - "layered on the palate, it has superb depth, succulent flavors, and a pure, lengthy finish". This is a good wine with hearty foods and has a robust cherry and berry flavor.
Price: $9.99
2007 Domaine d'Andezon "La Granacha Signargues" Côtes du Rhône-Villages
(out of stock)
Review Date: 11-30-2009
Tried this wine twice and was unimpressed with the first bottle. However, a month later when I opened the second bottle, I had to look twice at the label to be sure that this was the same wine. This one had a great nose along with a very dense color. It is full bodied granacha with beautiful fruit tones and aromas. I will be back for more.

2006 Beronia Tempranillo Rioja
(out of stock)
Review Date: 11-1-2009
A little on the light side for a Rioja, but still a very well balanced and smooth tasting wine. The initial sip presents a full and rich flavor and only at the finish does it fade slightly. An excellent wine for a variety of medium flavored food dishes and fine on its own.
Price: $12.99
2007 Perrin & Fils "Reserve" Côtes du Rhône
(out of stock)
Review Date: 9-28-2009
Although light on depth or complexity, for the price, it is an ideal wine for daily consumption. The blend of Grenache, Syrah & Mouvedre is well proportioned and provides both a pleasant nose and a smooth taste.
