Bruno Michel Rosé "les Rose" Champagne
Review Date: 11-9-2009
One of the most unique Champagnes that I have tasted. And one of the best. The Bruno Michel Les Rose is made from 100% Pinot Meunier and is full bodied and dry, with a nice red color and lively bubbles. This Champagne will go great with salmon or fowl and is produced to accompany food.

Collard-Picard Dom Picard Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 11-9-2009
The elegance and finesse jump out of a glass of the Dom Picard Blanc De Blancs, with complex aromas promising what is to come. Dry, yet round with layers of flavors, this Champagne reflects both the Chardonnay grapes from Grand Cru vinyards and the care in the aging. From a small grower producer, this is well worth the price.

2006 Seigneurs d'Aiguilhe, Côtes de Castillon
Review Date: 11-9-2009
The second wine from Chateau D'Aiguilhe, this merlot based wine is a joy to drink. The Seigneurs D'Aiguilhe reflects the elegance of the 2006 vintage and the softness of the merlot. The Seigneurs is definitely from Bordeaux with it's structure and hint of earthiness. Delicious alone this wine will go great with red meats.

Franck Bonville Brut Selection Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Review Date: 11-2-2009
What a great producer Franck Bonville is! This excellence shows in the Brut Selection Blanc de Blanc. When one opens the bottle and pours some of this Champagne into a glass, beautiful aromas are the first teasing impression. The Champagne is dry and crisp with clean delicate flavors. Great alone or with lighter foods.

2007 Alpen Cellars Trinity County Pinot Noir
Review Date: 10-31-2009
The Alpen Pinot Noir has bright cherry flavors that are nice and juicy but are balanced out nicely. Not too rich or over the top, it is a fine medium bodied wine that tastes like a Pinot Noir should. This wine will taste good alone but will go great with chicken, lamb or vegetarin dishes.

2006 Château Coupe Roses "Cuvée Vignals" Minervois
Review Date: 10-12-2009
I drank this wine the other night and think that it is fantastic. The Coupe Roses has such a beautiful bouqet and fills the glass with complex floral and spicy aromas. The wine itself is medium bodied with just the right amount of fruit , hints of spice and acidity. It should go well with fowl and pork. I drank it with mushroom pizza and it was wonderful.

2007 Shenandoah Vineyards "Special Reserve" Amador Zinfandel
Review Date: 10-12-2009
The Shenandoah Zinfandel is one of the best buys in wine from California because it offers so much flavor for the money. This wine is medium bodied but full of yummy Zinfandel fruit. Not a big fruit bomb, it should still please Zinfandel fans. The Shenandoah Zin. has one more thing going for it, and that is that it is made with organic grapes.

Jean-Francois Merieau "Bulles" Touraine Sparkling
Review Date: 10-3-2009
A great dry sparling wine from the Loire region of France. A blend of the Chennin Blanc and Chardonnay results in a wine with nice aromatics, flavors tending towards apples and a nice dry and crisp finish.Wonderful to drink alone and with chicken or vegetables, the Bulles should pair well spicy Indian or Thai foods.

2000 Señorío de P.Peciña Crianza Rioja
Review Date: 10-3-2009
This wine has been aged by the winery and released when it is fully mature and a joy to drink now. The Pecina Crianza is medium bodied with nuances of earth and minerals. It is very dry and has nice red fruit flavors and is going to taste best with food. I think that the Pecina Crianza would go great with a roast or fowl.

2008 Barber Cellars "Lazarie" Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 9-25-2009
This has got to be my favorite domestic Sauvignon Blanc that is in stock at this time. This SB has aromas of citrus and melon that make one want to know more about this wine. In the mouth, the Lazarie is soft with round citrus and melon flavors with a slight delicious mineral back ground. The Lazarie ends up nice and dry and is great alone or with fish or fowl.

Tarlant Cuvée Louis Brut Prestige Champagne
Review Date: 9-21-2009
Wow! This has got to be one of the most delicious Champagnes at K&L. It is made from half Chardonnay and half Pinot Noir and is a blend of the 1996 and 1997 vintages. The Cuvee Louis is full bodied and very dry. What impresses me the most is how complex and interesting this Champagne is. But more important than all of the above, the Cuvee Louis tastes so good and is worth twice the price.

Jean-Louis Denois Pinot Noir Brut Rosé
Review Date: 9-19-2009
There are a lot of great deals in sparkling wines and the Denois Pinot Noir is certainly one of the best. This wine has a deep red color from the 100% Pinot Noir used in making it and has nice juicy yet dry red fruit flavors. Beautiful and playful bubbles fill the glass with delicious goodness.

2005 l'Avocat Rouge, Graves
Review Date: 9-18-2009
This is one of my favorite Bordeauxs that K&L has in the store now. We tasted the L'Avocat recently with other Bordeauxs in the similar price range and the L'Avocat was, for me, the best value. The L'Avocat is full bodied with nice bright fruit and hints of mineral flavors. It is well balanced and can be enjoyed now but could be layed down for the next five years.

2007 Les Roches Touraine Rouge
Review Date: 9-18-2009
This is a wonderful wine if you are in the mood for a light to medium bodied wine. The Les Roches is a blend of Gamay, Cab Franc and Malbec and is delicious with nice red fruit aromas and flavors. The fruit is balanced out with nice crisp acidity and a slight hint of minerals. The Les Roches will go great with fowl and vegtables.

LeMorton Reserve 6 year old Calvados Domfrontais 750ml
Review Date: 8-24-2009
This exciting Calvados is made from 70% apples and 30% pears. The blending of pear brandy into the apple brandy is typical for the Domfrontais region. I think that the pear adds nuance and complex flavors that help left up the bright apple taste of this delicious treat. The Lemorton Reserve is, at the time of this writing, my favorite Calvados in the store.

Barbolini " Lancillotto" Lambrusco
Review Date: 8-6-2009
I am a big fan of dry Lambruscos because they are fun, go with almost any type of food and are a pleasure to drink alone. The Barbolini is dry and medium- to full-bodied with dark fruit and earthy flavors and a light fizziness to add excitment to the glass. I had it with pizza and it was fantastic.

2008 Domaine de Guillemarine Picpoul de Pinet
Review Date: 8-6-2009
This is a great wine, especially for summer, but good enought for anytime a clean and crisp wine is called for. The Guillemarine Picpoul has nice bright fruit at first and ends up with a nice crisp finish that is both pleasant and gives the wine some balance. This Picpoul will go with almost any light foods and alone. I would like to try it with appitizers from the Mediterrian region.

2008 Les Vignerons de Fontès "Prieuré Saint-Hippolyte" Languedoc Rosé
Review Date: 8-6-2009
This rosé is too easy to drink. The 2008 Hippolyte is not as full bodied as the 2007 was, but muscle has been replaced with elegance. Still quite flavorful, the aromas that one first smells are fruity and floral, followed by a nice dry wine with red friut flavors. I could drink this all year round.

2007 Pablo Menguante Garnacha Cariñena
Review Date: 7-20-2009
A wonderful Grenache that is another exciting and delicious find from Spain. This organically farmed wine has just right balance between bright dark fruit flavors, subtle minerality and a crisp finish. The Menguante should go well with many different foods, such as chicken, pork or hearty vegetarian food.

Ca Berti Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro "Tipico" Dry
Review Date: 7-6-2009
This is one fun wine that is almost too easy to drink. But it is more than that because it tastes so good. The Ca Berti Lambrusco is slightly fizzy with bubbles that help balance it out, has nice dark fruit flavors, and ends up nice and dry. It can be served slightly chilled or room temperature, and goes well with many different foods such as pizza, salami, or vegetarian dishes.

2005 Benjamin de Sansonnet, St-Emilion
Review Date: 7-4-2009
This is the second wine from Château Sansonnet, but it is absolutely first rate. It is a full-bodied wine that has dark fruit flavors with hints of chocolate and earthiness. Wonderful aromas of dark fruits are evident. The Benjamin is enjoyable now, especially if one lets it air before drinking. I think that it will go great with all sorts of meat and fowl.

2005 Katnook Estate "Founder's Block" Cabernet Sauvignon Coonawarra South Australia
Review Date: 7-4-2009
This wine is a real crowd pleaser! It is big and juicy, just full of big dark fruit flavors. Like some other reds from Australia, the Katnook has a touch of eucalyptus alone with nice spicy undertones. If you like big wines for a cocktail, the Katnook is soft enough to drink alone or have it with hamburgers and barbacue.

Marguet Pere et Fils Rosé Champagne
Review Date: 7-4-2009
This dry rosé is out-and-out one of my favorite Champagnes that we now have in stock . With the great selection of Champagnes that K&L offers, that is saying a lot. The Marguet has a beautiful soft pink color with subtle red berry aromas. In the mouth the Marguet is dry, soft and complex, with red berry flavors dominating. Romance in a bottle!

2007 Maison Angelot Mondeuse Bugey
Review Date: 4-13-2009
This is a wonderful wine for those looking for a medium bodied wine with nice juicy fruit flavors that are balanced out with a traditional dryness. The Angelot Bugey is bright, exciting and made from the Mondeuse grape that is a varital that is a little off of the beaten path but well worth trying. It will taste great with cheese, pizza, chicken or pork.

2008 Skouras Roditas/Moscofilero, Greece
Review Date: 2-23-2009
A clean and delicious white wine blend of the native Greek Roditas and Moscofilero grapes. There is a light floral nose that is both pleasant and inviting. In the mouth the wine is pure and crisp, but with enough body to being interesting and to complement fish, chicken or salads.
