2012 Château de la Font du Loup Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Review Date: 11-4-2014
Châteauneuf du Pape has lost its luster for me. Especially on the affordable price point. Not very complicated. Way too much fruit. Then along came La Loup! This is the best Chateauneuf I have tried in years!! Earth tones, floral and spice meet you in the glass. Very elegant mouthfeel, smooth, soft and harmonious. A good length and lovely acidity. Integrated tannins really round out this wine. Once again I must mention, elegant! This is a perfect holiday wine!

2010 Cantine Ascheri Barolo
Review Date: 11-1-2014
Very approachable Barolo. At a very approachable price! Classic tar, leather and rose petals on the nose. Wonderful mineral and fruit on the palate. Which gives way to a persistent acidity just calling for a prime rib in a porcini mushrooms sauces!

2012 Tenuta di Sesta Rosso di Montalcino
Review Date: 10-20-2014
Just by the color in the glass you know you are in for a treat! Beautiful rose and violet hues greet you like the warm Tuscan sun. Wonderful aromas of earth and candied red raspberry. Mouth feel of tart cherry and Christmas spice. And this awesome lingering acidity. Nice grip of tannins on the back end. With a super long finish just waiting for that braised meat to come out of the oven.

2013 Scarbolo Sauvignon Friuli
Review Date: 10-13-2014
Friuli is one of the top areas for white wines anywhere. This Sauvignon does not disappoint! Fruit and herbs for days in this wine. Just when you think you are going to get hit with some flabby mouth feel, BAM! Bone-dry acidity. A little more weight to it than your average Sauvignon Blanc. What a wonderfully long lasting finish too!

La Monacesca "Mirum" MV Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva 20th Anniversary
Review Date: 10-10-2014
One of my top white wines in the store. This is a treat for any wine drinker. The blend of 85% Verdicchio from the 2008 vintage, with 15% Verdicchio coming from the 2000-2001-2002-2004 vintages. In the hands of Aldo Cifola--and the way he manages wine operation can be seen in every detail. Tropical fruits, honey, ripe citrus and roasted almonds. Finish for days! This is very special wine and at this price it is a steal. With the holidays fast approaching this gift is perfect for any occasion.

Blason Isonzo Bianco (3L Bag-in-aBox) (cannot ship)
Review Date: 10-1-2014
Lucky for us in Los Angeles it is a never ending summer. So, no reason not to have this one on hand for family and friends! Heck or just hanging poolside. Wonderful floral and acidity. Super long finish to stand up to any finger food you throw at. Don't forget because of the magically bag it last for weeks in the fridge! Great for camping trips too. Enjoy!!

2012 La Monacesca Verdicchio di Matelica
Review Date: 9-22-2014
This is one of my top five white wines! Late harvest, low yields and a mineral-laden soil produces such a amazing wine. I know it is great when I can sit for a half an hour with one glass. Wonderful with food or on its own. No oak involved and none needed. Did I mention superb natural acidity? Give it a good decanting and watch the magic unfold. Intense, dry and fruity! What more could you want from a bottle under $20?

2013 Domaine de la Grande Colline "Le Canon"
Review Date: 9-9-2014
Le Canon is my new go-to wine for my fellow wine geeks! Thirty-year-old vines of Syrah and Grenache in its purest form. Hirotake Ooka is a maverick in winemaking, going way beyond any organic practices. This guy uses no sulfur. Of course it is unfined, unfiltered. He doesn't even look at the vines, let alone touch them. This is winemaking in its purest form. In the glass is where it counts! Touch of earth on the nose accented by lovely florals to round it out. Blue fruit and just silky smooth going down, with just the right amount of mineral and tannins on the finish. Give it a good decanting and it will blow off the carbon dioxide. Trust me you will keep going back to the glass over and over.

2009 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 7-7-2014
One of the most approachable Brunellos in the bunch. Intense dark berry color meets you in the glass. Rounded fruit with hints of plum and floral notes. Great acidity and velvety tannins. This is a balanced and powerful wine ready for any cut of meat you want to throw at it.

2009 Baricci Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 7-7-2014
Baricci is one of the most reliable direct imports for K&L. This family-run estate believes in traditional winemaking and brings out the best in bottle. This is wonderfully balanced, with sweet ripe, red fruits, herbs, lively acidity and integrated tannins that are fleshy and delicious. Age it for a couple of years or throw it in the decanter and enjoy!

2009 Ferrero Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 7-7-2014
The Ferrero Estate is located at the Podere Pascena, about halfway between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant’Angelo Scalo, on the southern slopes of Montalcino. Wonderful Tuscan earth and spice. Once again, Ferrero gives a rich, rounder style of fruit and tannins. But, enough acidity to handle any meat dish or pasta. Give it some time in the decanter and enjoy!

2010 Oddero Barolo
Review Date: 7-7-2014
Oddero Barolo is one for the ages. Maria Cristina took over from her father in 1997 and feels this is one of best vintages yet. Showing great complexity already. I found wonderful hints of floral, herb and mineral notes on the nose. First sip you get a wonderfully complex and powerful mouthfeel. With balanced fruit, tannin and acidity, you know this is built for the long haul. So, for all you traditional Barolo drinkers, this one is for you. Actually, anyone who loves a great glass of wine won't be disappointed!

2009 Querceto Chianti Classico Riserva
Review Date: 6-30-2014
If you thought Chianti was all dusty tannins and acidity, this wine will change your tune. Black cherry and a hint of fine pipe tobacco greets you in the glass. This being a Riserva, you get a bigger, richer, darker flavor in the glass. That being said, it's still a very balanced wine. With that wonderful Sangiovese acidity! Firm tannins and a long, sturdy finish. Makes it great for any of your Italian dishes!

2010 Castello di Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva
Review Date: 3-10-2014
This was my first introduction into Italian wines. I have loved Chianti ever since. This particular vintage is the best I have tasted. This is text book Tuscan earth. With a richness of spice and black cherry. It is worthy of any red meat or roast you can throw at it! So if you are going to pick up just one bottle this is the one. Trust me you will be back for more.
