2005 La Velona Brunello di Montalcino

Not sure, will have to revisit. Seems a little over the hill. Muted fruit, too much oak. Tried it over a couple of days with braised short ribs on day 1, and rich pasta on day 2. Just didn't come together. Even at this price, I'm not convinced; one expects better from a Brunello.

2006 Havens Napa Valley Merlot

Haven't opened a bottle yet. For this price, I bought is as a cooking wine. Should give nice body to my braised short ribs (2btls/4lbs meat). Then I'll open a nice full-bodied Pomerol to go with the dish.
