2012 Trimbach Riesling
Review Date: 1-8-2015
When someone is pouring Riesling, I either feel reticent or jazzed. Depending on who's producing it and where it's from, Riesling varies SO MUCH. This little beauty from Alsace is glorious. Upon opening, the nose is sumptuous with orange blossom nectar and lemon zest. Upon tasting, there's white stone fruit, blood orange pith and a lovely high-toned acidity. This Riesling is bone dry and a feast for the senses.

What a gorgeous rose. Bright strawberry, blood orange, & lemon dance across your palate. The texture is creamy yet finishes with a tangy, vibrant acidity. Brilliant!

2010 Our Wine Rkatsiteli Republic of Georgia
Review Date: 11-14-2014
I LOVE ORANGE WINE (In case you're unfamiliar with what Orange Wine is, basically, it's white grapes pressed and left in contact with the skins/lees for a super long time...like years instead of days or months...). This Georgian beauty is full of flavors of roasted citrus peel and a crazy wonderful herb garden. It's almost waxy in texture and so grippy tannic! This is so "new" to most Americans but so old school in Eastern Europe. This is my winter white.

I'm in love with this Txakolina! High toned acidity, lime zest, bracing minerality...like licking wet stones from a mountain stream. This is one of the most refreshing wines out there.

2013 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Chardonnay Marlborough
Review Date: 7-18-2014
It takes a lot for a Chardonnay to make my toes curl, and this one does! This New Zealander begins with buttery musk, dried stone fruit, and has a creamy smooth mid-palate. It's followed by a mineral driven chalky finish...what's not to adore?

2009 Hermanuspietersfontein (HPF) "Die Arnoldus" Bordeaux Blend Sondagskloof
Review Date: 7-18-2014
My oh my oh my.....how I love this wine. A Bordeaux blend from South Africa, this vino beholds all 5 grape varietals. It pours the color of oxblood and has legs that would rival Tina Turner's. The nose explodes with green and black olives brined with wild savory herbs. The mid-palate is richly textured yet grippy, and full of black currant and black cherry skin. The smokey, saline, spicy finish goes on and on. Absolutely marvelous!
