2012 Villa Pillo Toscana Sangiovese (3L Bag-in-a-Box) (cannot ship)
Review Date: 3-24-2014
I bought this 3L box of Sangiovese to take with me on a recent camping trip. (I also bought our GoVino plastic stemless wine glasses to go with it....a perfect match). I was so pleased with how good this wine was! Fresh, tart cherry, floral aspects and an earthy balanced finish. And when camping, no glass bottles to knock over into the fire :) Of course, this box of joy isn't restricted to being enjoyed in the Great Outdoors. It's a fantastic party wine, something to bring to the BBQ, or just simply to have on hand. It'll keep for a couple months (the plastic bladder the wine is kept in is airtight), so it's great if you just want a glass of red without worrying about having to finish a whole bottle. So versatile!

2012 Niepoort "Docil" Loureiro Vinho Verde
Review Date: 3-9-2014
Absolutely refreshing! This zippy V.V. is full of every citrus zest you can imagine. Its racy acidity leaves your palate quenched, and the fresh "wet rock" mineral finish just begs you for more sipping. This is a warm weather staple.

2002 Daniel Ginsburg "Cuvee Prestige Louis XVII" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 2-5-2014
This Champagne is made exclusively from fruit grown in the Grand Cru of Ay and is comprised of 50% Pinot Noir & 50% Chardonnay. It's savory with leesy, buttery brioche flavors that are well matched with zingy, tart guava notes. There's so much complexity in this bottle! It's delicious and so satisfying. I want this with my next brunch spread when I have guests over....Mushroom & herb frittata, sizzling black forest bacon, crispy hash browns, and assorted olives. Turbo Yum.

2012 Patient Cottat "Le Grand Caillou" Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 1-30-2014
This is the white wine that I always keep stocked in my fridge. Bright, fresh citrus peels (grapefruit & lime) lead into a bracing minerality that ends with a wonderfully dry, crushed wet-rock finish. I love this wine (and it's an absolute steal).

2011 Sylvain Gaudron Vouvray Demi-Sec
Review Date: 1-22-2014
This Vouvray is so pretty on the nose with candied cherries, peaches and cream. The palate is fresh, yet rich, and finishes with an acidity that prevents any cloying character. Highly aromatic, this Vouvray would sing with spicy Thai food!

2011 Diemersfontein Pinotage Wellington
Review Date: 1-22-2014
Usually, I find South African wines (especially Pinotages) to be wonderfully funky and animalistic. This Pinotage, however, is quite different. The nose begins with the aromas of freshly ground coffee and chocolate covered black cherries. The body is rich and luscious with a smokey, lip-smacking finish that reminds me of sizzling black forest bacon. Absolutely decadent..

2012 Chakana "Maipe Reserve" Malbec Mendoza
Review Date: 11-18-2013
What a lovely, plush Malbec! Full bodied with a mega-ton of blackberries and blueberries, a soft cocoa/white chocolate mid-palate, finishing with a bit of pepper spice and a wee zing of minerality on the very end. This would pair so very well with your favorite comfort food. Examples? Pizza with roasted peppers and spicy sausage, or grilled cheese with tomato soup would be so very nice with this vino.

Guillaumette L'Authentique Génépi 375ml
Review Date: 11-7-2013
First, a bit of background: "This is traditional recipe from Thomas Bernard-Reymond's Grand Father. Thomas hand picks the flowers from the Ecrin National Park, one of the few producers permitted to do so. He produces two tiny batches each year and has specifically decided to remain true to the original recipe rather than expand at the expense of quality. This is truly one of the highest quality alpine liqueurs available on the market. Only 5500 liters are produced annually." This is one of the most complex and delicious liqueurs that I've ever had! It's floral with notes of lavender, herbal with rosemary and spearmint, and viscous and nectar-like with out being cloying on the finish (not even a little...). There's a sprig of wormwood twig in each bottle to keep every thing happy. Addictive!

This awesomely priced Rioja is a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano, and comes from 20-40-year-old head-pruned vines. It's full of dried cherry, savory earth, and sweet tobacco leaf. It's a great Rioja at an incredible value!

2010 Zuccardi Tito Red
Review Date: 11-7-2013
This wine 83% is a blend of Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Caladoc (a cross between Malbec and Grenache). It's rich with spice and wild berries and has a great structure keeping those spicy, wild berries in line ;)

2009 Bodegas Muga "Selección Especial" Reserva Rioja
Review Date: 11-7-2013
Incredibly delicious Rioja! This Spanish beauty is super silky on the palate and is full of black cherries, dried herbs, and soft cedar. The finish is earthy with a leathery grip that lingers with a light minerality. A perfect wine to compliment your holiday feast or simply to sip on a cool evening.

2011 Andre Ostertag "d'E" Gewürztraminer
Review Date: 10-19-2013
This is a full-on representation of what a Gewurtztraminer tastes like: Lychee, rose petals, ginger spice, nectar. This one has an exceptionally rich, full, soft body. It pleasantly reminds me of Turkish Delight candy.

2009 Stickybeak Monterey/Napa County Syrah
Review Date: 10-19-2013
I love Syrah. I love how versatile and unexpected it can be. On the nose, I got mint chocolate chip ice cream and blackberries. The body is rich and silky and the finish is full of berries, savory leather and tobacco leaves. Very Satisfying.
