2012 Mount Edward Pinot Noir Central Otago
Review Date: 12-12-2014
This Estate Pinot Noir from Mount Edward is a very pretty and elegant style, and is a steal at this price. The red fruits in this wine are very soft, and have a pretty floral note. It is balanced out with baking spice and vanilla flavors with soft tannins. This is a great style of Pinot Noir for salmon.

2012 Tongue In Groove "Clayvin Vineyard" Pinot Noir Marlborough
Review Date: 11-20-2014
I LOVE this Clayvin Vineyard Pinot! This wine is loaded with juicy dark cherry and currant, earthy forrest floor notes, backing spice and purple flowers. The fresh acidity balances out this wine and has enough structure to age well. It is delicious now, but I hope I will practice discipline and save some for about 5 years from now.

2012 Tongue In Groove "Cabal Vineyard" Pinot Noir Waipara Valley
Review Date: 11-19-2014
If you like Pinot Noirs with more restrained fruit, then this Cabal/Smith Vineyard is a must try! The nose on this wine is very aromatic with pretty floral notes. There is a lot of pepper, herbs and minerality on the palate with soft fruits such as dark cherry and raspberry. The tannins are very polished and the long finish will have you reaching for more.

2012 Lewis Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 11-5-2014
When we visited Lewis Cellars on our Napa Trip and I tasted the 2012 Napa Cabernet, the first descriptor I wrote was “polished”. This wine is very young with a big backbone, but since it is so polished it is already a pleasure to taste. This wine is full of lush dark fruits, exotic spices, tobacco leaf and earthy qualities with a long, chocolate liquor finish. While this wine is delicious now, it will definitely improve with some cellar aging. Get this wine before it’s gone!

2012 Greywacke Pinot Noir Marlborough
Review Date: 10-25-2014
The 2012 Greywacke Pinot Noir could easily be compared to a Russian River Pinot Noir that costs twice the price! Rich dark cherry and raspberry fruits, with forest floor earthy notes, and freshly ground spices envelope your palate. This wine has a lot of structure and yet is elegant at the same time. While this wine is lovely now, I believe it will get better with at least 2-5 more years of aging.

2012 Ad Lib (Larry Cherubino) "Avant Gardening" Malbec / Cabernet Western Australia
Review Date: 10-25-2014
The “Avant Gardening” Malbec is another great value wine from Ad Lib! Juicy dark cherry and plum fruits are the dominant flavors, but it’s not overly sweet as the fruit is balanced out with violet and soft spices. This wine is full bodied, but the tannins are well integrated, which makes this wine very easy to drink alone or with food. Stock up on this wine for your holiday cocktail party!

Dark currant, rose petal, black olive, anise, cedar and dusty, earthy flavors are already showing in this young Cabernet. This wine is structured for the long haul, but is so clean and balanced you will love drinking it at any age.

2009 Kerrigan + Berry Cabernet Sauvignon Western Australia
Review Date: 8-21-2014
This is one sexy wine! Your experience begins with an amazing nose of bright fruit and floral notes. Black fruit and cranberry, lavender, apricot, spice, mint and a hint of smoke envelope your palate. The silky smooth tannins with a long finish complete this very decadent wine. This wine is so well balanced and elegant, it is one of my favorite Cabernet Sauvignons I have tasted in a long time!

2013 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Pinot Noir Marlborough
Review Date: 7-14-2014
I am already a fan of the TWR wines, but this 2013 Pinot Noir elevated their quality to another level with the same great price! The 2013 was an amazing vintage for New Zealand, but I think what really made a difference this year is the addition of a second vineyard in this wine. The new addition is a vineyard from a steep, north facing slope (which is the sunny side in the Southern Hemisphere) with clay soils. The clay soil brings a silky mouth feel that I love! This wine has a great balance of red and dark currant, with a lot of spice, flint and earth. The complexity far exceeds the price. Enjoy!

2013 TWR (Te Whare Ra) Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough
Review Date: 7-12-2014
The previous 2012 vintage of this wine was heavy on the green bell pepper, tomato leaf type characteristics. On the contrary, the warmer 2013 vintage has brought a rounder, more fruit forward style SB and I think it is delicious! Even though it has more fruit than it has in the past, this wine is far from being overly ripe. Apple, lime blossom, and white floral notes are paired with a crisp acidity and chalky minerality. Yum!

2012 Bodegas Castano "Solanera Vinas Viejas" Yecla
Review Date: 7-10-2014
This wine is a little too easy to drink! The 2012 Bodegas Castano Solenera Vinas Viejas Yecla is bursting with ripe blue and black fruits, balanced out with spice, herbs, anise and flowers. The tannins are well-integrated and have a light dusty quality that brings a hint of cocoa powder to the wine. If you bring this wine to your next BBQ party, you will be very popular!

2011 Maison Ambroise Bourgogne Rouge
Review Date: 5-22-2014
This is a great value folks! The Ambroise is a very quaffable Bourgogne with a true sense of place, which is hard to come by under $20. This wine has lots of zesty acidity, spices, nice minerality and dark fruits. This will pair with many foods, but it will be a great choice with BBQ. Enjoy!

2013 Grey's Peak (Greystone) Sauvignon Blanc Waipara Valley
Review Date: 5-20-2014
This Sauvignon Blanc has some structure! It was fermented in neutral oak, so this wine is more round and rich than your average SB. Opulent stone fruits, citrus zest, wild herbs, and minerality fill the palate. Because of the structure of the 2013 Grey’s Peak SB, this will pair well with lighter seafood fare.
