2009 Comte Louis de Clermont-Tonnerre (Alain Corcia) "Cuvée Julie" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Review Date: 10-10-2011
I tasted this one BLIND and was really surprised when I discovered the price, a great wine for under $30. Here were my notes:
Visual: Deep plumb to violet on the rim, no obvious signs of aging.
Nose: Blackberry jam, but not too jammy, fig, dried plumb (NOT prunes), and black pepper with just a hint of vanilla.
Palate: The nose is confirmed with more pepper on the immediate attack, silty tannins that have a slight drying affect, a wee bit of heat on the back end but it is well balanced and a peppery finish on the return.
