2006 Attila Gere Villany "KOPAR"
Review Date: 11-16-2009
Who new that one of the Best bordeaux blends I would try all year would be from Hungary. This wine is made up of 52% Cabernet Franc, 46% Merlot and only 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is bright, structured with great balance. Black and blue fruit with hints of spice, cedar, cinnamon and chocolate. The finish is long and smooth. I would put this wine up with almost any Bordeaux blend in the world. Take a chance, try it. You will not regret it.

Marguet Pere et Fils "Cuvee Reserve" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 11-10-2009
One of the reasons I love working at K&L so much is the great grower/producer champagne we have the opportunity to taste.(drink)Names like Franck Boneville, Launois and Marguet Pere et Fils. The Cuvee Reserve is all Grand Cru fruit made up of 65% pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay. This wine is rich and powerful with that pinot noir really pushing forward in the mouth. This is a great champagne for the holidays.

2007 Philip Togni "Tanbark Hill" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 11-10-2009
Philip Togni has been my favorite California Cabernet Sauvignon producer for many years. His 2007 Tanbark Hill keeps his streak of brilliant wine alive and well. The Tanbark Hill is the second label(young vines from the estate) which is more accessible early on. Drinkable now this wine will continue to develop over 5-7 years. This wine is bright, fresh and structured. The Blue and black fruit shows beautifully ripe with big, luscious tannins.Hints of cedar, licorice and a hint of chocolate give this wine its perfect balance.

2004 Solaria Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 10-31-2009
The 2003 Solaria is a Brunello you can drink right away. A very warm year, the 2003 vintage in Brunello is a little riper than usual. The ripeness allows for an early drinking brunello while your 1999, 2001 and 2004 are aging in your cellar. This wine is big, bright full bodied wine with a lovely balnce of blue fruit, tobacco and wood. The wine will age gracefully for the next 5-7 years.
Price: $44.99
2005 Bailly de Camensac, Médoc
Review Date: 10-21-2009
This is the second wine of Chateau Camensac. This wine is big and bright with just a hint of smoke, chocolate and vanilla. Very balanced but definetly leaning towards a new world style of wine making. It is a wine to be drunk right away.
Price: $19.99
2005 d' Arche, Haut-Medoc
Review Date: 10-19-2009
One thing K&L is good at is finding the great Bordeaux at fantastic prices. This Haut Medoc is made up of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a bit of Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and....... Carmenere. The wine is round and fresh with brilliant lush tannins. Plum, Black cherry and a hint of oak and herbs. The wine is ready to go right away and will hold for another 3-5 years.

2007 Château de Montfaucon "Baron Louis" Côtes du Rhône
Review Date: 10-13-2009
This is a regular label here at K&L. Year after year brings a high quality, reasonably priced wine. The 2007 is no exception. Grenache and Syrah make up most of the blend. A bright, balanced wine with blue, red and black fruit with a hint of smoke, earthiness and acid beautifully integrated.

2005 Trebiac, Graves
Review Date: 10-13-2009
There is not a better price/quality wine at K&L. A merlot based wine from the Graves region, it shows beautiful black fruit with a lovely mineral back bone. Tobacco and smoke finish it off on a long finish. This is a wine that is very popular at all the parties I bring it to.

Tessier Cremant de Loire
Review Date: 8-18-2009
When you are in the mood for a sparkling wine and don't want to spend very much, this is the perfect wine. A sparkling of this quality and price is very hard to find. This wine is made from pinot noir and chardonnay and shows very clean, crisp minerality and perfect balance with the apple and just a hint of red fruit..

2008 Alpen Cellars Trinity County Chardonnay
Review Date: 7-12-2009
Continuing their impressive run of quality Chardonnay, Alpen Cellar's 2008 follows the house style. Very clean and crisp with no new wood or malolactic fermentation. The wine shows flavors of pear, apple and grapefruit wrapped in a wonderful tight mineral mid palate and finish. This wine has impressed us three years in a row.

2006 Ferrero Rosso di Montalcino
Review Date: 7-5-2009
A beautifully bright and fresh Rosso which is ready to go. Pop and Pour. No waiting required. Medium bodied wine with lush black cherry and plum with an underlying light tobacco flavor in the mid- palate and on the finish. The tannins are evident but very lush.

2007 Shenandoah Vineyards "Special Reserve" Amador Zinfandel
Review Date: 7-1-2009
I n the mood for a zinfandel but not looking for the big, in your face style. The special Reserve is a medium body wine with pretty black and blue fruit and just a touch of black pepper. Grab the grill and a couple bottles of this and you have a great day ahead.

2007 Undone Pinot Noir
Review Date: 7-1-2009
This is a Pinot bargain beyond Pinot bargains. A light fresh German pinot noir with no oak. A straight forward wine with cherry, strawberry and raspberry with just a hint of rhubarb and spice. As a Domestic buyer, I can tell you I can't find a Pinot Noir this good in California for the price.
Price: $10.99
2007 Brooks Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 5-19-2009
A lot of negative press has been written about the 2007 vintage of Pinot Noir in Oregon. I have to disagree. It won't be a wine as ripe or big as the 2006, but the quality and balance of the wines are fantastic. Brooks has been making fantastic wine for several vintages now, and the 2007 adds to the legend that is building around this winery. The wine is a blend of six vineyards and has an amazing balance and complexity for such a light and pretty wine. The nose comes at you with red fruits, minerals, spice. The palate is full of strong red fruits with earth, mushroom and hints of cinnamon. Taking a qoute from Brooks that I believe very fitting: "Unmistakably Oregon and unmistakably 2007..."
Price: $18.99
2008 Celadon "Beeswax Vineyard" Arroyo Seco Grenache Blanc
Review Date: 5-19-2009
A gorgeous Grenache Blanc from the biodynamically farmed Beeswax vineyard in Monterey County. This wine spends 6 months in used oak, this a fresh and rich Rhône style wine with great acidity. Peach and apple fruit with a beautiful streak of minerality. This is a great warm weather white.
Price: $21.99
2007 Cep Vineyards Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Review Date: 5-19-2009
Once again this wine hits the spot. Great wine at a great price. Luscious red fruit, hint of blue fruit, forest floor, a hint of baking spices. A balanced, cold weather Pinot Noir. The wine won't last very long; it has very limited production.
Price: $22.99
2006 Newton Red Label Napa Valley Claret
Review Date: 5-19-2009
This wine has been produced for several years now and I believe this is the best Claret I have tried from Newton. Aromas of blueberries, cassis, strawberries and plum give way to a palate packed with the same fruit. The oak is very balanced with acidity, which gives you a fabulously balanced wine from nose to stomach. What a wine for the price.
Price: $18.99
2006 Isenhower "Red Paintbrush" Columbia Valley
Review Date: 12-29-2008
A fantastic Bordeaux Blend. Bryan Brick and I discovered this wine on a buying trip to the Northwest. This winery was one of our favorites in Walla Walla. A bright, fresh wine with a nose of pencil lead, spice and black fruit. The fruit is sweet but balanced with a hint of cedar and vanilla. Drink now our hold it for a couple of years.

2006 Anderson Family Vineyards Chardonnay (Was $35)
Review Date: 11-12-2008
The 2006 Chardonnay is rich and balanced with notes of pear, mineral and spice. Fermented half in oak, half in stainless steel, this wine will age for several years. I tried the 2004 and thought that I was sipping a Meursault.
Price: $26.99
