Apple, citrus, pear and zippy acidity make this liter of Gruner a no-brainer for parties! At this price, how could you not buy this by the case?!?

2011 Limerick Lane Russian River Valley Syrah/Grenache
Review Date: 2-12-2014
Red cherry, spice, mineral, wet clay, blackberry and red and black currants, with medium plus acidity and medium plus tannin. None of the floral or overripe fruit sappiness which can weigh down Syrah-Grenache blends in the Rhone, this quite well-structured, balanced Syrah-Grenache blend gives any Chateauneuf du Pape a run for its money, hands down. Way to go, Limerick Lane!

2011 Limerick Lane Russian River Valley Zinfandel
Review Date: 2-12-2014
Our friends at Limerick Lane have hit it out of the park again with the Russian River Zin! Fabulous balance between pretty Zinfandel fruit and fresh acidity- very skillfully done. Cassis, black currant, Santa Rosa plum, graphite, spice with medium plus acidity and medium tannin. So easy to drink, you will be wondering who emptied the bottle when your back was turned!

2012 Mönchhof Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett
Review Date: 2-6-2014
Orange & lemon zest, slate, apricot and white peach. Medium plus acidity and a long, fresh finish. Great balance and finesse. Just 8.5% abv, it is slightly sweet enough to enjoy on its own, or fabulous with slightly spicy fare. Ridiculously good for $18.99!

2006 Lambuena Reserva Ribera del Duero
Review Date: 12-15-2013
Tinto Fino from 40-60 year old organically farmed vines, the 2006 Reserva from Lambuena is in a wonderful place for drinking now, but could easily cellar for another 10 years. Red cherry, sandalwood, cassis, black currant, chalky mineral, smoke, game, with sweet floral notes. Medium acidity with medium plus fine, well-integrated tannin. I have been waiting for the Lambuena wines to arrive for what feels like forever! As our first Direct Import from Ribera Del Duero, I couldn't be more proud of how these wines are showing! Salud!

I have been waiting for the Lambuena wines to arrive for what feels like forever! As our first Direct Import from Ribera Del Duero, I couldn't be more proud of how these wines are showing! Salud!

2010 d'Arenberg "High Trellis" Cabernet Sauvignon McLaren Vale South Australia
Review Date: 12-9-2013
Concentrated, bright red cherry, cassis, plum, currant, and notes of sandalwood. Very elegant, with medium plus acidity and medium, well-integrated tannin. Ridiculously good. Completely bonkers that this old vine Cabernet Sauvignon is only $14.99! It beats the pants off of a lot of sub-$20 California Cabernet, but with the same generous fruit and great balance. This is one Cab to buy by the case- you will not be disappointed!

Michel Loriot "Palmyre" Brut Nature Champagne
Review Date: 12-1-2013
Raise your hand if you loved the Michel Loriot Extra Brut with the blue label! M. Loriot has revamped the look of his wines- the Palmyre is the Extra Brut you know and love! New labels include a disgorgement date, specific cepages, and QR code for scanning to learn more about his wines. That fabulous transparency aside, this wine continues to be a strong, delicoius, and nuanced. The disgorgement date of 8/2013 on this bottling is lovely- bright and lively, white flowers, citrus, mineral with a fine mousse and refreshing acidity. This continues to be one of my favorite (and my Mom's favorite!) Champagnes from the house of Loriot. Bravo!

2012 Ancient Peaks/K&L Wine Merchants Paso Robles Zinfandel
Review Date: 12-1-2013
When Bryan Brick, Jim Boyce, Jeff Garneau and I trooped down the Central Coast this year in February, we had a really fantastic time at Ancient Peaks, with one of the members of the 3 families who owns Ancient Peaks- Amanda Wittstrom-Higgins. Amanada took us on a tour of the ranch, showed us how they use sustainable farming practices in the vineyards and on the ranch, and then we all stood out in the cold morning sunshine at Oyster Ridge, overlooking the Margarita vineyard, atop fossilized oysters that used to be 50 feet below sea level. We were struck by how massive their holdings are, but mainly by how committed to family and community they are as well. Ancient Peaks, like K&L, is a family run business. We had a fabulous tasting perfectly paired small bites. We began to talk about the possibility of blending a special bottling of Zinfandel for our customers. This gorgeous Zinfandel is the result of that conversation. Black currant, cassis, granite/mineral, red cherry, with medium plus acidity and medium tannin make this a bright, poised, fresh Zinfandel, light on its feet and ready for drinking. 13.5% abv, a blend of two lots of Zin with a hint of Syrah to add some lift, barreled down in 75% neutral oak and 25% new. Incredible at $20!
