2006 Friggiali Brunello di Montalcino
Review Date: 5-22-2013
This is classic 2006 Brunelli, beautifully layered, and expressive. It's bursting with sweet, ripe strawberries, black cherries intermingled with subtle earth and toasted oak notes, minerals, leather and a hint of bitter chocolate on the finish, with round and soft tannins and a long aftertaste. This is a must for the cellar, and is in my cellar and will be there till its tenth birthday and maybe a bottle to celebrate its fifthteen. (It will be tough keeping my hands off it though.) This is what 2006 is all about, structure and balance - it’s all going on here. Buy a few bottles, then forget about them, or give this at least two hours of decanting. Warning on this as it should be sold out soon.

2011 Patient Cottat "Le Grand Caillou" Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 5-15-2013
We have carried this wine for a couple years now and I have always enjoyed it... The 2011 just came in last week and Wow! The BEST yet! Three stars from Guido. Lots of limestone and flint on the palate, has wonderful length and is food friendly. This would be a great luncheon wine - maybe baked goat cheese with fines herbs and baguette?

2012 Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc
Review Date: 5-15-2013
One of California’s finest producers of Sauvignon blanc’s. A crisp, light to medium-bodied example revealing forceful, fragrant notes of melons, figs, dried herbs, and a hint of citrus, delicious, and surprisingly a great value from California!

2011 Tenuta Sarno 1860 Fiano di Avellino
Review Date: 5-15-2013
Haven't heard of Fiano before ? This grape is becoming very popular in the San Francisco bay area, thanks to a little restaurant called "A16", that has introduced alot of Southern Italian veritals to its patrons. A bright, fresh wine with pear, lime, lemon peel, toasted hazelnut with a mineral/salty notes on the palate, this is a very food friendly wine.

2009 Antech "Emotion" Cremant de Limoux Brut Rosé
Review Date: 4-9-2013
From the southern French region of the Languedoc comes this beautiful example of Cement de Limoux, very characteristic of the variety, with perfumes of white flower, citrus, lemon soda and drying mineral tones. The wine offers intensity and precision with focused attention on acidity and freshness. A Great party pleaser

2012 Domaine Begude Pinot Noir Vin de Pays d'Oc Rosé
Review Date: 3-14-2013
This robust rose has a light salmon pink color with fascinating aromas of ripe wild mountain strawberries and I found hint minerality. It's fresh and lingering on the palate with a very dry finish. Buy a couple bottles, as the first one will empty quickly.

2011 Castello di Verduno Nebbiolo Langhe
Review Date: 2-28-2013
Love the 2011 vintage of this wine. The nose brings aromas of dried cherry, and rose’s and on the palate you will find raspberries, tar, tobacco, truffle, and a little Langhe dust with a good tannin structure. I love the elegance to this wine, and with all of its varietal purity here, I would call this baby- Barbaresco, I still want to decant for a couple hours or can even age for a couple of years (up to five or six years if you are that patient) and I am thinking it would show best with a wild mushroom risotto or a barbecue Tri-tip.

2011 Agostino Pavia Grignolino d'Asti
Review Date: 2-28-2013
Grignolino is a very distinctive grape variety native to Piedmont. It combines pale, Pinot-like color with mouthfilling grip (some tannins). I think of this grape variatal as a dark rose and I utilize it as one, cranberry fruit flavors, herbal and rhubarb notes with great acidity. It is one of the classic matches with salumi, and it also compliments a broad range of rich or flavorful summertime foods. I take this out of the refrigerator about a half an hour before serving, this really brings out the fruit. The perfect spring red!

Montechiara Prosecco
Review Date: 2-28-2013
Italian bubbles for ten bucks, what did we just step back in time? Nope just another Great bargain wine from K & L! This is the perfect wine for all your spring holiday parties, for there is nothing better than Prosecco, for crowd pleasing and value. This has a light straw yellow hue and has a fine mousse and delicate, with a long-lasting bead. On the nose you will find generous fruit, releasing hints of pear and nectarines. The palate has wonderful balance and elegance, dry & crisp, but admirable fullness and length, closely mirroring the nose. Buy a case; these make great gifts as well.

2011 Corte Rugolin Valpolicella Classico
Review Date: 2-21-2013
Elena and Frederico Coati, a brother and sister team who make dynamite wines, are responsible for this great and affordable wine, they make sensational wine at every level. This is their basic level Valpolicella, but there is nothing basic about this wine. It is full-bodied and elegant and aromatic and has great balance classic fruitiness with an excellent finish (and only 12.5 alcohol, yes, someone remembers how to do that). Perfect for spring evenings and delicate pasta or a roasted chicken.

2010 Tormaresca "Neprica" Puglia
Review Date: 2-16-2013
I just recently poured this at a staff tasting, to remind my colleges what a Super Value this is, sometimes this gets look over because it has been around K & L for many years ( some vintages are better than others) and this 2010 is Rocklin’ .I love drinking this wine. It is just the kind of wine you want when you sit down with a little bread and cheese or when you open something to drink while cooking dinner. Rich and complex, Negroamaro, Primitivo and Cabernet Sauvignon, what is not to like? A real crowd-pleaser for eight bucks.

2010 Blason Cabernet Franc Isonzo
Review Date: 2-14-2013
It’s back! And as long as I can keep my co-workers at bay, you may be able to buy some for yourself. There is nothing simple about this cab/franc, it has the classic blueberry and herbaceous, plum and a hint of cola also a little white pepper on the finish. A staff and consumer favorite for many years now, this is a wine you will want to stock up on.

2010 Haut de Poujeaux, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 2-1-2013
Classic 2010. Don't let the low price scare you away. This reminds me of the 1997 Cantemerle: it drinks great young, but will age (if you can keep your hands off it.) Wild spicy berry and floral character. Full-bodied, with soft tannins.

This Sonoma Pinot Noir shows spicy, velvety fruit upfront which is followed by a long, smooth finish. The wine is fresh and lively. A perfect red for a chilly day!
