2010 La Prevostura "Muntacc" Coste della Sesia Rosso

There is plenty of fruit, good acidity, soft tannin structure, some minerality and white pepper with a lengthy finish. The combination of blue/dark fruit and the black cherry comes from the Nebbiolo. I also find some tar and roses on the lengthy finish.

2010 La Prevostura Lessona

The wine’s perfume is pure Nebbiolo: raspberry fruit and dried rose petals with a touch of tobacco and lots of cedar, bursting with sweet fruit, tar, minerals, displaying outstanding depth and fine overall balance. This wine will drink well now and over the next few years, best with the heartiest meats or stews. Better yet, serve after dinner with some great aged cheeses (Pecorino Romano, Parmigiano-Reggiano or Asiago) and an olive tapenade.

2013 Boniperti "Rosadisera" Nebbiolo Rosato

Robust Nebbiolo character: a salmon pink color, fascinating aromas of wild mountain strawberries, some floral notes and lots of great acidity, even a touch of mineral on the long-lasting aftertaste. This is a great wine for the brunch crowd. (Really--the wine is a palate refresher.) Or sip some while sitting on the porch with a favorite book.

From the great 2010 vintage this wine brings aromas of dried cherry and roses, and on the palate you will find raspberries, tar, tobacco, truffle, and a little Langhe dust, with a good tannin structure.

2013 Les Roches Sauvignon Touraine

We have carried this wine for a couple years now and I have always enjoyed it. The 2013 just came in last week! The BEST yet! Three stars from Guido. Lots of limestone and flint on the palate, has wonderful length and is food friendly. This would be a great luncheon wine -- maybe baked goat cheese with fines herbs and baguette?

2013 Cantina Terlan "Terlaner Classico" Terlano

This blend of three different grape varieties, grown in the classic district of Terlano (South-Tyrol), is as versatile a wine as you'll find from anywhere, and a seriously good value besides. A blend used quite successfully for over 100 years, this cuvee of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel vats offers fruity aromatics with light yeasty notes and a taste that is always harmonious though quite strong on the palate and very persistent.

This Lagrein is made in the Alto Adige. This wine has an elegant perfume, subtle even, with fruit, vanilla and violet notes. On the palate it is a touch austere and quite full bodied, just the thing to match the rustic, rich foods of the mountainous region like lamb with rosemary and hard cheeses.

2012 Poggiarellino Rosso di Montalcino

This is drinking GREAT ! right now and will over the next couple of years (but only if you can keep your hands off it and keep some in the cellar). Here is a wine that packs a wallop and lots of bang for your buck all in one! Give this rosso about an hour to open up and stand back, on the palate you will find strawberries and black cherries, a little bitter coco and some toasty oak & vanilla, fine tannins and a hint of Montalcino dust on the long finish.

2009 Baricci Brunello di Montalcino

So many Brunellis and so little time. This wine is from this extraordinary portion of Montalcino's most famous single vineyard, "Montosoli," and is full of black cherry, cinnamon, anise, cardamom, and leather; spicy, gamey, full of what I call sweet earth, (that Montalcino, dusty minerality) it's a more rustic wine than the one above. I would give this a couple hours of breathing time and drink this over the next couple of years.
