2002 Schrader Vieux-Os "Ira Carter" Napa Valley Old Vine Zinfandel
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Schrader Vieux-Os "Ira Carter" Napa Valley Old Vine Zinfandel ((91-94ST), 90WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Black fruits, licorice and cracked pepper on the nose; if the 2001 is a bit claret-like, this offers an essence of zinfandel berries. Thick, sweet, dense and pure, with the strong, sappy currant and cranberry flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes with very suave tannins and terrific sweetness of fruit. Schrader will have a couple more vineyard-designated zinfandels in 2003 from other sites in the Calistoga area." (06/2004)

2004 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth-Bodega Headlands" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth-Bodega Headlands" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ((96-98RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bordering on perfection, the 2004 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands (from Kistler’s new vineyard planted on the Sonoma Coast) offers up sweet plum, forest floor, and violet scents along with a La Tache-like, ethereal, floral, and black raspberry-like character. This prodigious, deep ruby/purple-colored Pinot possesses fabulous concentration as well as a layered, multidimensional palate, wonderful fruit, sweet tannin, and good acidity. It should age beautifully for 10-12 years. Interestingly, Steve Kistler planted this vineyard with the old Calera clone, which is rumored to be a suitcase clone pulled out of the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti grand cru vineyards." (12/2005)

2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 94AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,580 cases of the 2012 James Berry Vineyard and it reminds me of the 2009 Janasse Chaupin (which is one of Justin’s favorite wines). Incorporating more Mourvedre than normal, it’s made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. Rock star stuff, with fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and have 15-20 years of ultimate longevity. (JD)" (08/2014)

2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah ((97-99RP), (94-96AG)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Syrah releases started with the 2012 Syrah Stock. Coming mostly from the Eleven Confessions vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, it also has portions from Cumulus, The Third Twin and White Hawk. Made from 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petite Sirah, 2% Viognier and the rest Mourvedre, it spent 20 months (it’s not yet bottled) in 52% new French oak. Showing the purity and suppleness of the vintage, yet with no lack of concentration, depth or richness, it gives up fabulous cassis, black raspberry, smoked meats and violet-like aromas and flavors that continue to change in the glass. In short, it’s a rock-star Syrah that could come from nowhere else. It should be approachable on release and evolve gracefully for two decades or more. (JD)" (08/2014)

1970 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1970 Latour, Pauillac (96RP, 94JS, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Latour ’70 can be such a variable beast. This is certainly one of the better, more representative bottles. Deep garnet in colour, nice limpidity in the glass. It has a beautiful nose that to be honest, sweeps aside the respectable Domaine de Chevalier ’70 poured alongside, like a lord dismissing his servant with a swish of his hand. Graphite, wild black fruit, freshly rolled tobacco and a faint hint of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied and after forty years, still quite austere but the balance is nailed. Masculine and foursquare, a Latour with a lot of horsepower…but not necessarily revving in top gear…at least not after four decades. Lovely cedar and mint on the long, long finish. Wonderful....Tasted April 2010. (Neil Martin--Wine Journal)" (11/2010)

Of the 2011 Vincent Paris "Granit 60 Vieilles Vignes" Cornas,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2011 Cornas Granite 60 Vieilles Vignes offers an explosive nose of spring flowers, blackberries, blueberry liqueur, camphor and charcoal. It is a full-bodied, intensely concentrated wine that represents the essence of Cornas. The tannins are sweet, the acidity present but low and the wine is already accessible. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine J-F Mugnier Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Clos de la Maréchale" (91AG, (89-91BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This was the only wine in the range that was showing any reduction during my visit and it was enough to flatten the nose. There is impressive concentration to the serious and brooding medium weight flavors that display a subtle minerality on the firm, intense and somewhat rustic finish. In fact I would say that the 2012 version of this wine is more Nuits in basic character than it typically is." (01/2014)

2004 Williams-Selyem Central Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Williams-Selyem Central Coast Pinot Noir (91CG). Connoisseurs Guide: "*Good Value* This one stands clearly apart from the rest of its kin in that it is a broader, more obviously ripened and somewhat viscous, fuller-bodied wine as opposed its slightly more measured and brighter siblings. It does, however, share in the very deep and generous fruit that marks every one of the Williams Selyem 2004s, and, in this wine, that fruit is a bit riper, a bit more black-cherry-like and carries a mild suggestion of milk chocolate along with it. Clearly on the open and obvious side, the wine has some spine to go with all of its flesh, and, while tasty enough now, it just might improve for another three of four years." (06/2006)

Extremely full-bodied and unctuously-textured, this multi-layered, enormously-endowed port reveals a finish that lasts for over a minute. It is a magnificent port that will age well for 30-40 years." Aged 22 months in mostly used oak (various sizes), it offers awesome purity and freshness in its black raspberry, cassis, ground herbs, white pepper and licorice-driven bouquet. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. 2012 Rivers-Marie "Silver Eagle Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Rivers-Marie "Silver Eagle Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95AG, 91ST). Antonio Galloni: "Deep and powerful, the 2012 Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard is especially brooding in this vintage. Black cherries, tar, smoke and licorice all burst from the glass in an explosive, full-bodied Pinot. This is one of the more reticent wines in the range, with a burly personality that is going to take some time to fully come together. Initially quite dark, the 2012 brightens up considerably with time in the glass, suggesting a future with plenty of potential. Hints of cranberry, pomegranate and orange peel leave a lasting impression on the finish. The 2012 was fermented with 10% whole clusters." (02/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A brilliant showing for Christian Moueix’s well-known Napanook Vineyard, the 2001 Dominus is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. A classic in the making, this is a flawless, seamless example of elegant, complex Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that possesses a Bordeaux-like personality. This gorgeous, sexy, opulent, dense ruby/purple-colored wine reveals sweet caramel, mocha, creme de cassis and kirsch notes intermixed with a hint of espresso roast as well as underbrush. Ripe, long and full-bodied with well-integrated tannin, acidity, alcohol and wood, this prodigious 2001 is drinkable now and over the next 25+ years given this estate’s longevity track record. Sweet red berries, crushed flowers, licorice and tobacco are some of the notes that flow from this understated Pinot. On the other hand, there’s a slight bit of raisin, marzipan and bitter chocolate that come from the vintage. In between you’ll find Termes’ patented dark berry flavors, earthiness and tannins. An excellent effort that should be best in 2008. " (02/2007)

2006 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is one of the two or three candidates for the wine of the vintage. An extraordinarily great wine, the 2006 is far superior to the 2005, which was amazing, and while made in a different style, is as great as the 2003, and such legends as 1990 and 1978. Fashioned from a minuscule 21 hectoliters per hectare, and tipping the scales at 15.2% natural alcohol, the 2006 boasts a dense ruby/purple color to the rim, in addition to an extraordinary bouquet of melted licorice, spring flowers, raspberries, black currants, spice box, and earth. In the mouth, it is utterly profound – full-bodied and multidimensional with astonishing purity, length, equilibrium, and intensity. This is a superb vintage for the Avrils, and Vincent deserves huge accolades for producing a wine of such incredible intensity and complexity. Think of Clos des Papes as a Chateaune

This is an especially chiseled, finely sculpted, yet exotic Barolo endowed with extraordinary complexity and mouth-filling intensity in its ripe dark plums, mint, violets, sweet spices, soy, tar and minerals. In 2006, the Ciabot combines elegance and power to a degree that is exceedingly rare. It is another superb and truly special Barolo from Domenico Clerico. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. 2005 Delectus "Cuvee Julia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Delectus "Cuvee Julia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (92CG). Connoisseurs Guide: " *Two Stars* Delectus's self-claimed bottling of its very best lots reflects the winery's seeming belief that bigger is better, and, in this case, the argument is hard to refute. Deep and absolutely brimming with very rich, oak-buttressed fruit, it offers far more than a one-note display of ripeness and shows touches of vanilla, tea leaf, dark earth and black olives as accents to its central themes of currants. Its ample tannins and finishing heat are par for very ripe Cabernet, but they are countered step for step by its remarkably tenacious fruit, and seven or eight years of growth is a very safe bet for adoring fans of the style."
