2010 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Scarecrow "M. Étain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that captures the essence of the vintage, Scarecrow's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Etain literally bursts from the glass with vivid, beautifully articulated fruit. Black cherries, raspberry jam, plums, espresso, menthol and rosemary are just some of the many nuances that take shape in the glass. The 2010 is rich, full-bodied and beautifully layered from start to finish. Another year or two in bottle should help the firm 2010 tannins soften a touch. The 2010 includes 5% Petit Verdot in the final blend. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (12/2012)

2009 Sloan Napa Valley Proprietary Red
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Sloan Napa Valley Proprietary Red (98RP, 96AG, (94-96ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Sloan possesses lots of espresso roast, chocolate fudge, baking spice, cedarwood, incense, creme de cassis, blackberry and subtle smoke characteristics. Surprisingly soft tannins are atypical for this vintage, but they work well and frame this full-bodied, concentrated, multidimensional wine. One of the finest Sloans made to date, it can be drunk now or cellared for 25-30 years. (RP)" (10/2013)

2005 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90CG). Connoisseurs Guide: "Almost sure to raise controversy with its involving aromas of leather, roasted coffee, scorched chocolate and herbs, this unique offering smacks ever so faintly of Syrah and may not fit the fruity Cabernet model, but its complexity is beyond any argument. It is smooth and supple in feel with plenty of palatal weight and a fine sense of polish, and its neatly fit spine of firm structural tannins is precisely the stuff of fine Cabernet. A few years of age should make a good thing better, and it has room enough for ten years of growth." (04/2009)

2008 Brewer-Clifton "Sweeney Canyon" Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Brewer-Clifton "Sweeney Canyon" Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 continues the trend of rating all the older Sweeney Canyon Chardonnays higher than I did early in their lives. That’s an indication of great winemaking from a spectacular site. The age old argument of whether a Chardonnay improves in the bottle is answered positively by how the wines in this vertical have performed. The 2008 Chardonnay displays a French style with lots of white corn, white peach, honeysuckle, wet rock and spice characteristics. Tropical fruit notes appear on the palate, and there is enough acidity to support and delineate the wine’s superb richness. The alcohol came in at 15.3%, relatively modest by Brewer-Clifton standards. The 2008 should drink well for at least 8-10 more years. (RP)" (11/2013)

2007 Pahlmeyer Cabernet Sauvignon Piece de Resistance
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Pahlmeyer Cabernet Sauvignon Piece de Resistance. This wine is allocated exclusively to Preferred Members. "The inky purple hue of the 2007 Pièce de Résistance focuses your attention on its beauty, while the nose and palate send the rest of your senses into blissful overdrive. With aromas of cassis, pain grille and blueberry crème pie with toasted graham cracker crust, the nose explodes out of the glass. On the palate, fruit tart and preserve notes intermingle with milk chocolate, cinnamon and brown sugar accents. Once a sip has been savored, the wine rewards you with the slowly lilting vanilla, blackberry and caramel finish. This gorgeously structured wine will cellar for more than 20 years." – Erin Green, Winemaker September 2009

2007 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 95WS, 93JS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Les Pavots, a Bordeaux varietal blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, is brilliant. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by gorgeously complex aromas of melted chocolate, espresso roast, blackberries, and cassis. Full-bodied with a superb texture, a subtle note of oak, and fabulous concentration, it is more reminiscent of a Right Bank Bordeaux than one expects with this much Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. A thirty-year wine, its impeccable balance and the sweetness of its tannins make it accessible already. (RP)" (02/2010)

2010 Domaine Grand Veneur "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Grand Veneur "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (100RP, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A monumental effort meriting a perfect score, the super-rich 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a 4,000-bottle blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah from 55- to 105-year-old vines and was aged for 18 months in small oak. The wine offers majestic blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with kirsch, licorice and subtle Provencal herbs in the background. It is akin to chewing meat in the mouth given its viscosity and thickness. This utterly amazing wine comes close to being over the top, but it pulls back just in time. A massive Chateauneuf du Pape (even for a 2010), it needs 5-6 years of cellaring and should age effortlessly for 25-30 years. Bravo! (RP)" (10/2012)

1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Thank God it is beginning to budge, as I would like to drink most of my supply before I kick the bucket. This is a great, still youthful wine, and, on occasion, one does understand the hierarchy of Bordeaux chateaux when you see the complexity and brilliance of this first-growth." (06/2009)

Bid on this 1.5 liter 1-bottle lot of 2012 Schrader "Old Sparky" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (OWC - 100RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another compelling, perfect wine is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer to Kalon Vineyard Old Sparky. This is Clone 4 and Clone 6, as well as Clone 337, blended together from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, aged in 100% new Darnajou barrels. For whatever reason, this wine seems to show more chocolate, espresso roast, barbecue smoke, dense blackberry and blueberry fruit and enormous body with not a touch of heaviness or astringency. This is a fabulous offering. It should drink well for 20-25 years. (RP)" (10/2014)

2008 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Alban "Reva" Edna Valley Syrah ((95-96JS), 96RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Reva (Syrah) is stunningly beautiful. This is a relatively delicate, feminine Reva that impresses for its length, balance and utter purity of fruit. Dark red cherries, flowers, mint and silky, saline notes wrap around the expressive fruit on the long, polished finish. A hint of truffles adds to the wine’s sensual, totally beguiling personality. In 2008, the Reva is drop-dead gorgeous. Readers should note that, in this vintage, there is no Lorraine or Seymour’s, so the 2008 is a 'super-Reva!' Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020. 96+ points. Pungent, highly expressive aromas of raspberry, blood orange, flowers and spices; exotic in the context of this classic vintage. Juicy, sweet and gripping on the palate, with a weightless, delicate quality to the sharply delineated flavors of raspberry, orange peel and minerals. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here a gently oaked nose runs more toward the red side of the fruit spectrum before merging into rich and seductively textured broad-shouldered flavors that are also blessed with ample amounts of dry extract that renders the supporting tannins almost invisible on the detailed, youthfully austere and solidly persistent finish." Antonio Galloni: "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Insignia is a towering, statuesque wine bursting with blackberry jam, tar, spices, leather and licorice. It shows fabulous depth and richness backed up by serious, imposing tannins that suggest it has a long life. Ideally, the 2008 should be purchased by those who can be patient; it is not a wine for those seeking immediate gratification. The blend is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec. 2008 Quilceda Creek "Palengat Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Quilceda Creek "Palengat Vineyard" Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 94ST, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Palengat Proprietary Red Wine is made up of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, with the balance Merlot and Petit Verdot. The fruit was sourced entirely from the Palengat Vineyard. Pain grille, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, violets, dried herbs, black currant, and blackberry aromas compose the bouquet of this impeccably balanced offering. It opens in the glass to reveal plush, succulent flavors, superb concentration, plenty of ripe tannin, and at least 4-5 years of aging potential. It will deliver optimum drinking from 2015 to 2028. 1982 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 96AG, 96JS, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a denser version of the 1990 that stylistically reminds me of what the young 1959 probably tasted like. Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, plump, rich, fleshy wine with low acidity. With 6-8 hours decanting in a closed decanter, it will offer beautiful drinking, but it needs another 5-8 years to reach full maturity. It is capable of lasting 50-60 years. (97+) (RP)" (06/2009)

1994 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 97ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994 is a strikingly thick, compellingly rich wine with the texture of a great Pomerol, despite being made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine exhibits a dense purple color, and an incredibly fragrant nose of jammy black fruits, spice, smoke, and loamy, truffle-like scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with thrilling levels of extract and richness, but no sense of heaviness or harshness. This seamless Dominus possesses no hard edges, as its acidity, tannin, and alcohol are beautifully meshed with copious quantities of ripe fruit. This wine offers early drinking, yet has the potential to last for 30+ years. (RP)" (12/1997)

2000 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this bottle of 2000 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (100RP, 95JS, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the wines of the vintage, the 2000 has barely budged in its evolution since it was bottled and released in 2002. After ten years in bottle, it still reveals a dense opaque purple color along with a potentially sensational bouquet of blueberries, black currants, graphite, asphalt and background oak. Extremely powerful, full-bodied and superbly concentrated with good acidity and high but round tannins, this massive La Mission-Haut-Brion should take its place among this estate’s most hallowed vintages when it hits full maturity in another one to two decades. I was surprised by just how youthful this wine tasted at age 12. If tasted blind, I would have guessed it to be around 4 to 5 years old. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050." (08/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 97RP, 96JS, 96ST, 95WE, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Not unexpectedly, the 2005 Harlan Estate performed slightly better than it did last year. As these wines often do, it continues to put on weight as it is bottled very late by Napa standards, and there is no fining or filtration. The 2005 exhibits a gorgeous thick-looking, ruby/purple color in addition to a beautiful nose of burning embers interwoven with creme de cassis, roasted meats, sweet black truffles, and spring flowers. A hint of lead pencil shavings also emerges from this cuvee, which seems to want to be both a Pauillac and a ripe vintage of La Mission Haut Brion. Full-bodied, dense, pure, and revealing sweeter tannin than I remember, it can be drunk now, but it will no doubt display even greater complexity in 10, 20, and 30 years. (RP)" (12/2008)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002 Justin "Isosceles" Reserve Paso Robles Red Blend (OWC - 95RP, 91WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I realize this is not a North Coast offering, but it’s such a sensational, impeccably high quality cuvee it merited inclusion in this report. One of the finest Bordeaux blends (76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec) I have ever tasted from Paso Robles, it offers glorious aromas of camphor, creme de cassis, smoke, and subtle oak. Voluptuously rich and full-bodied with beautiful purity as well as a sense of elegance, definition, and harmony, this gorgeously proportioned, rich proprietary red should drink well for a decade or more. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (100RP, (95-97WE), 96JS, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Ducru Beaucaillou will eclipse the brilliant wines produced in 2005, 2003 and 2000. It will be interesting to see how the 2009 fares against the 2010 after twenty years of aging, but my money is on the 2009. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot that achieved 13.5% natural alcohol, this inky purple, unctuous wine possesses classic aromas of graphite, creme de cassis, blueberries, violets, licorice and Christmas fruitcake. Full-bodied and intense with Ducru’s inimitable elegance and purity, it should firm up in the bottle after 7-10 years of cellaring and last for 40-50 years. Magnificent! (RP)" (02/2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is one of the finest wines of the vintage. The 14.9% alcohol is barely noticeable given the amazing concentration and intensity. A saturated opaque purple color is followed by scents of vanilla, blackberry liqueur, crushed minerals, and a hint of white flowers. There is stunning intensity, tremendous purity, full body, and a remarkable, seamless finish (amazing given the elevated, austere tannin). Give the 1999 another 2-3 years of cellaring, and enjoy it over the following two decades or longer. A brilliant effort! (RP)" (12/2003)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2010 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion (1.5L) (99RP, 94JS, (90-94ST), 94WS, 92WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Inky, bluish/black/purple, with notes of spring flowers, licorice, camphor, graphite, and a boatload of blueberry, black raspberry and blackberry fruit, this is a powerful, full-bodied Troplong Mondot. All the building components of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol are judiciously and impressively integrated. It is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc made by Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Pariente with the consultancy help of Michel Rolland. I-m not sure what the heady alcohol level is in Troplong Mondot in 2010 (it certainly must be in the 15%+ range), but it is well-concealed behind the extravagant, richness, full-bodied power, and pure nobility of this majestic wine. Forget this for 5-7 years and drink it over the following three decades." (02/2013)

1988 DRC Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1988 DRC Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru (95RP, 93BH, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I have been telling people for years that this domaine's 'best buy,' if such a label can be applied here, is the Grands Echezeaux. While it is not Romanee-Conti or La Tache, it often comes very close to those two titans, at a fraction of the price. In 1988, it is fabulous. In fact, my unedited tasting notes had the words 'fabulous' in them twice and 'awesome' once. It is decadently rich and spicy with an extraordinary perfume of violets, gamey, plum-like fruit, toasty new oak, and a finish that must last several minutes. It, like the Echezeaux, should not be consumed for at least 5 years, and should easily last until 2010 or longer. (Burgundy Book)" (01/1990)

1985 L'Eglise-Clinet, Pomerol (OWC)
Bid on this 8-bottle lot of 1985 L'Eglise-Clinet, Pomerol (OWC - 95RP, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A superstar of the vintage... This wine still has a very saturated opaque ruby/purple color that is far less evolved than almost any other 1985. The wine has sweet cranberry, black cherry, and blackberry fruit notes intermixed with mineral, cold steel, and a hint of cedar. Rich, full-bodied, with fabulous purity, a very well-delineated feel in the mouth, enormous richness, and a long finish that goes on for nearly 45 seconds, the wine seems to grow incrementally in the glass with increasing amounts of air, and is certainly a 1985 that has evolved at a snail’s pace compared to most wines of this vintage. 1994 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (OWC)
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 1994 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (OWC - 93RP) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Michel Delon, a great man, is the consummate proprietor, meticulously administering this vast estate spread out along the St.-Julien/Pauillac border, separated from Latour's finest vineyard by a mere ten feet. The 1993-95 vintages from Delon are brilliant wines. Leoville-Las-Cases remains one of the irrefutable reference points for high class Bordeaux. One of the more massive Medocs of the vintage, this opaque purple-colored wine exhibits fabulous richness and volume in the mouth. Layers of pure black-cherry and cassis fruit are intermixed with stony, mineral-like scents, as well as high quality toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, with a sweet, rich entry, this wine possesses plenty of tannin, yet fabulous extract and length. Leoville-Las-Cases is one of the half-dozen great wines of the Medoc in 1994. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2025. This lion never falls aslee

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth - Bodega Headlands" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95RP, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvee Elizabeth comes across as a bit firmer and less expressive than the Cuvee Catherine. There is a salty, saline quality that runs through the fruit in this powerful, structured wine. Waves of fruit crescendo on the explosive finish. This is a dazzling Pinot Noir, but it will require at least another year or two in bottle to reveal its pedigree. I loved it. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. (AG)" (02/2012)

Spicy, peppery, Victoria plums, strawberry, still lots of fruit. So fragrant and so fruity for a rosé that is four years old. Full flavoured and silky and powerful. Would be better if it were served cooler. Lots of spice on the finish. Very long. Carries its alcohol better and is less viscous than the On the Lam. Drink 2010-2013." (10/2012)

1984 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1984 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93ST, 91JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This blockbuster Cabernet Sauvignon remains closed, with more promise than current appeal. The saturated purple color displays no amber or signs of evolution at the edge. The nose reluctantly offers up pure aromas of black fruits, minerals, and licorice. Extremely full-bodied, with layers of rich, glycerin-dominated, sweet, jammy fruit buttressed by zesty acidity and abundant tannin, this large-scaled, surprisingly well-proportioned and balanced Cabernet Sauvignon requires another 5-8 years of cellaring. It is a candidate for 20-30+ years of longevity. So what's new?" (08/1994)

Of the 2010 Rhys "Bearwallow Vineyard" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Bright violet color. Sexy, highly perfumed scents of musky red and dark berries, incense and Asian spices, with a bright mineral topnote. Fresh, impressively concentrated raspberry and blackberry flavors are firmed by silky tannins and brightened by zesty minerality and a hint of blood orange. 2003 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Absolutely superb, this 2003 is drinking beautifully. This blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot from the famous hillside Eisele Vineyard in northeast Napa Valley tips the scales at 14.5% natural alcohol. Gorgeously fresh black currant and black raspberry notes intermixed with spring flowers and forest floor jump from the glass from one of the most aromatically complex wines of the vintage. Medium to full-bodied with sweet fruit, velvety, melted, integrated tannin, a round, generous mouthfeel and no evidence of oak, this is a classy, elegant as well as substantial beauty that continues to age well. It may even be superior to Araujo’s 2002, which, on paper, is a better vintage. The seductive, alluring 2003 should remain at this level for another 5-8 years, but there is no reason to defer your gratification. Bravo! (RP)" (

A gorgeous nose of wet rocks, white currants, flowers, pineapple, and honeysuckle are all present in this vivid, full-bodied, powerful wine that tastes like a Chevalier-Montrachet from France. Stunningly rich, pure, and long, this is another tour de force from Mark Aubert, who certainly has the Midas touch when it comes to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It should drink well for 5-8 years." 2003 Philip Togni "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Philip Togni "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 94AG, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. For those who don’t know, Togni has always made an uncompromising Cabernet meant for 20, 30, maybe even 40 or more years of cellaring. Gorgeously rich notes of black olives, black currants, graphite and wood smoke jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-colored, Medoc-styled 2003. At age ten, it displays a youthfulness similar to a 4- to 5-year-old wine. The finish is long, convincing and rich. It is reminiscent of a Spring Mountain version of a hybrid blend of St.-Julien and Pauillac. Unique to Napa and as distinctive as Philip Togni himself, it will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring and should last longer than your author. By the way, my cellar includes many vintages of Togni, and I rarely touch them before they

2008 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. A legend in Napa Valley Cabernet, Martha's Vineyard in the Oakville appellation is now certified organic by CCOF. The good news, according to the winery's note, is that the 2008 Martha's is another enchanting, beautifully balanced vintage. The not-as-good news is that only 500 cases of this sought-after, classic Napa Valley bottling were produced, one of the smallest releases ever, possibly resulting from the vexing frost events of 2008. Here's Heitz Cellar's tasting note: "This elegant Cabernet is a fruit forward wine with an engagingly soft and sweet center, and just a touch of graphite from the gravelly soils. Aromas of eucalyptus, sage, and green tea mingle with blackberry and cassis. The palate shows incredible finesse, and smooth tannins lead to a long, silky finish. In true Martha's fashion, this Cabernet is lovely to drink now and has the structure to age gracefully."

The wine is full-bodied, almost inky in the mouth, with sensational richness, voluptuous texture, and a stunningly long finish. This is a brilliant Syrah to drink over the next decade or more." Harlan Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "My favorite from Calera is usually the Jensen Vineyard, and the 2005 Pinot Noir Jensen is prodigious. Complex notes of sweet plum, pomegranate, and cherry are followed by subtle wood smoke, forest floor, underbrush, and sauteed mushrooms. This broad, complex, full-bodied wine has stunning concentration, length, and richness. Very primary and young, it seems to have at least 15 years of aging ahead of it. Pungent aromas of red and dark berries, Asian spices and musky herbs. Broad, fleshy dark berry flavors gain freshness with air and pick up notes of allspice and candied rose. Manages to be both rich and lively, finishing with excellent energy and lingering spiciness. This really hangs onto the palate. 2003 Ridge "Nervo" Sonoma County Zinfandel
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Ridge "Nervo" Sonoma County Zinfandel. This is the eighth vintage in which Ridge has worked with this old vineyard on the steep hillsides of western Alexander Valley. The Nervo family purchased the land in 1896. It included ten acres of Zinfandel, interplanted with a small amount of Petite Sirah. In 2003, those hundred-and-twenty-year-old vines set a full crop, providing just over half the grapes for this wine. The balance comes from younger vines around the caboose, and on the north and south parcels. A mid-September heat wave - temperatures soaring to 105°F - quickly pushed the grapes to full ripeness. This intense wine shows rich, complex fruit, and exotic spice.
