Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Readers looking for more Meursault-like, roasted hazelnut, smokiness, tropical fruit and a leesy note to its medium to full-bodied, chunky, richly fruity style should check out the 2002 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch. The nose just pops out. Intense. Full body, with a round and velvety tannin structure and lots of currants, ripe strawberries. Very intense every. Black pepper at the finish. Muscular yet toned. Very structured yet balanced. This needs a minimum of four to five years of aging. Paul Draper says that perhaps this is as great as the legendary 1991. Made for aging." (05/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (95RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aged 22 months in 100% new French oak, this blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot reveals a powerful core of red and black fruits, dusty, loamy soil, lavender and a hint of toast. I would not describe it as elegant, but rather, it is a big, backstrapping, Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine that should continue to drink well for 15 or more years. (RP)" (11/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beautifully sweet, slightly herbaceous black currant, licorice, and earthy notes emerge from this nearly opaque, dark ruby/purple-tinged 1982. Compared to the more elegant, feminine-styled wine often produced here, it is a beast. Dense, thick, rich, concentrated, and impressive, it can be drunk now and over the next two decades." 1966 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1966 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This exceeded my expectations given that this was supposed to be after the estate lost their way under Bertrand Bouteiller. A dark mahogany core. The nose is quite attractive, soft red-berried fruit, redcurrant, hot bricks on a summer day with a touch of mint. It is marred by a slight tinge of dishwater. Medium-bodied, good cohesion with a solid structure and good depth. Rustic, edgy but with good ripeness for a ’66, less austere and fleshier than other ’66 Pauillacs. On the finish: decayed cherry fruit, mouldy oranges in an antique glass vase. A pleasant surprise. Drink now. Tasted May 2009. (Neal Martin, Wine Journal)" (09/2009)

Of the 2009 Montrose, St-Estèphe,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: " Harvested between September 17 and October 5, this wine seems always open for business, so to speak, much like the great 1982s. The summer of 2009 was very hot and dry, which got the harvest off to a reasonably early start. The blend was 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Jean Bernard Delmas’ goal was to find perfect equilibrium between freshness and concentration, given its incredible opulence and the voluptuous character this vintage offered. That’s what this wine has in abundance. With an astounding dense purple color, the wine has velvety, sweet tannins, and an extremely open-knit and opulent blueberry, blackberry and creme de cassis nose. There is scorched earth,

Denser than the 2001. Finishes long and spicy, with ripe, suave tannins." (05/2002)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Araujo "Altagracia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (93RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Araujo’s second wine, Altagracia, is almost too good to be true. There are 750 cases of the 2003 Altagracia, a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot. It is much more fruit-forward than its bigger sibling, but definitely displays the Eisele Vineyard style in its deep purple color, sweet nose of flowers, crushed rocks, blueberries, creme de cassis, and earth, super-sweet tannin, well-integrated acidity, and opulent personality. This dense purple wine has the tell-tale notes of flowers and pencil shavings, and its broad aromatics are intense and totally captivating. Bid on this bottle of 2006 Sine Qua Non "The Hoodoo Man" White Blend (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I opted to just list my scores for the older releases as I find Bob's initial write-ups spot on. (JD) [This exceptional effort is a model example of what can be done with white varietals in California’s Central Coast. An exceptional bouquet of lemon blossom, nectarine, orange marmalade-infused honey, quince, and citrus are stunningly aromatic and provide profound richness, yet the freshness, precision, and overall lift are remarkable for a wine of this power and intensity. It offers a prodigious glass of dry white wine that should drink handsomely for a decade. In short, I call it 'How do he do it man.' (RP, 6/2008)]" (08/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Pajana reveals incredible aromatic complexity and intensity, something this particular site isn’t always capable of. There is lovely definition to be found as this classic feeling, mid-weight Pajana opens up in the glass. Layers of ripe dark fruit, spices, flowers, licorice and minerals develop seamlessly through to the close. I am floored by the wine’s volume, depth and length. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99RP, 98WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape flirts with perfection. A classic blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre and the rest Syrah, Vaccarese and Counoise, all aged in large foudres in Clos des Papes's air-conditioned and humidity-controlled wine cellar, the wine boasts a dense purple color along with lots of gorgeously pure black raspberry, black currant and kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with notions of spring flowers, tapenade, licorice and spice box. This dense, full-bodied, powerful Chateauneuf is also remarkably fresh and well-delineated. It even exceeded the 2007 in natural alcohol, coming in at 15.9%. With an extraordinary texture and considerable tannin in the finish, it will benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age, and is built for 25-30 years of cellaring. Don't miss it! Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Vieux Telegraphe may be the greatest wine made at this property since the 2005 and 1998. Dense ruby/purple-tinged with an exquisite nose of salty sea breezes, licorice, ground pepper, jammy black cherries, black currants, figs, and plums, this is a full-bodied, rich, Provencal-styled offering with lots of sweet, ripe tannin. It is surprisingly accessible for a Vieux Telegraphe (this wine normally shuts down several years after bottling), but it should have great longevity (25+ years) given its power, full-bodied mouthfeel, and enormous length and richness. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Réservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 95WS, 94WE, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The bottled 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee is as compelling as I thought it would be after tasting it last year. A blend of 85% Grenache with the rest Syrah, Mourvedre and small dollops of the other authorized varietals, this wine tends to come from the estate’s holdings in the eastern sector of Chateauneuf du Pape. The opaque purple-colored 2009 exhibits magnificent, rich berry fruit intertwined with cedar, Christmas fruitcake, licorice, charcuterie, roasted meats, smoked duck, kirsch, blackberries and god knows what else. It is an amazingly complex, rich, full-throttle wine that reminds me somewhat of what the 1990 tasted like in 1994/1995. It is a magnificent Chateauneuf du Pape. If you are looking for the garrigue component, it's also there. (RP)" (10/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 94ST, 92WE, 91JS, 91W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Dominus continues to strut its stuff, tasting like a Napa hybrid blend of a St.-Emilion and Pomerol. Its dark ruby/purple-tinged color is followed by notions of cedarwood, spice box, roasted herbs, sweet black cherry and cassis fruit, licorice, and truffles. Full-bodied with excellent fruit intensity, complex aromatics, supple tannins, and a long finish, this 7,000-case blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot should drink well for two decades or more. 95+ points. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1996 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers" ((88-90RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This bright, medium-to-dark ruby-colored wine is produced from 60 year old vines. It displays blueberries, and black and purple fruits dusted with minerals, cracked black pepper, and spices, as well as a medium-to-full-bodied, juicy, broad, and masculine personality. This foursquare and oily-textured wine has iron, steel, earth, and blackberry flavors, and a firm finish. It is a structured and tannic (again, not problematic) Nuits that will require cellaring. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Beaune Greves Vieilles Vignes evinces bright cherry, wood smoke and chalk dust. Densely meaty, savory and stony on the palate, with rather obvious tannins and slight woodiness (two of three barrels are new), it certainly displays good length, and may just need more time to properly assess. 2004 Elio Altare Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Elio Altare Barolo (93AG, 92WE, 92WS, 90ST). Antonio Galloni: "Altare’s 2004 Barolo is a sweet, dense wine loaded with considerable fruit that hides the tannic structure that lurks underneath. Licorice, menthol, baking spices and dark red fruit all make an appearance in this superbly well-proportioned Barolo. Sweet, ripe tannins, and a lingering note of mint give this wine a beautiful sense of lift on the finish. Altare’s Barolo was once quite representative of La Morra, but the recent addition of vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga in the blend make this a very different – dare I say it – almost traditional expression of Barolo. It is a lovely wine and is not to be missed. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2024. " (12/2007)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Elderton "Command" Single Vineyard Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (96RP, 95WE, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium garnet in color, the 2004 Shiraz Command Elderton Estate is a little mute at this stage, revealing subtle to moderate aromas of leather, sandalwood and spice over warm blackberry plus some mocha. Full-bodied with medium-firm fine tannins, complex evolving flavors and a great line of acid, the finish is very long. Give it another year or 2 for the nose to emerge from this closed stage and drink it 2012 to 2022+. (LPB)" (12/2010)

2003 Crocker & Starr "Stone Place" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Crocker & Starr "Stone Place" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (94RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a beautiful wine made from 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Merlot by veteran winemaker Pam Starr, who previously worked at Sonoma-Cutrer, Carmenet, and Spottswoode. Most of this cuvee comes from the Crocker Vineyard, which dates back to 1870. Notes of charcoal, earth, black currant liqueur, licorice, flowers, and spicy wood emerge from this inky/ruby/purple-colored blend. With superb intensity as well as purity, medium to full body, ripe tannin, and plenty of depth and texture ... (RP)" (12/2006)

Better than previously reviewed. Best after 2012." (10/2007)

2004 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92WE, 90W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Cinq Cepages is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot. A big sweet kiss of incense, bay leaf, white chocolate, black cherries, black currants and a touch of smoke jump from the glass of this opaque purple-colored wine. Rich and concentrated, this comes across as one of the best vintages I have tasted of Cinq Cepages. There are still some light tannins in the finish and this wine, while clearly entering its period of maturity, has at least another 15 years of cellaring potential. (RP)" (04/2014)

2002 Fisher "Lamb Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Fisher "Lamb Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Approaching full maturity but still youthful, as if it is in late adolescence, this wine, from the excellent Fisher family based on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains, comes from their 12-acre Lamb Vineyard, planted in northeastern Napa. The wine exhibits some scorched earth, white chocolate, underbrush and black currants as well as hints of sweet cherry and loamy soil (or is it just a crushed rock minerality?). Beautiful texture, easygoing purity and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel give this wine both power and elegance. Drink it over the next decade. (RP)" (06/2012)

2006 Felsina "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Felsina "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is another of the truly great wines in this tasting. It is most similar in style to the 2001 for its power, but also has some of the aromatic finesse and complexity of the 2004. Layers of fruit build to the explosive, huge finish. Today the 2006 is big, implosive and tightly wound, but it will be absolutely gorgeous in another few years. Actually, it already is. Since its release a few years ago, the 2006 has continued to move towards a more refined expression of Sangiovese while maintaining all of the structure it showed as a young wine. (AG)" (06/2012)

2001 Fontanafredda Barolo Lazzarito
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Fontanafredda Barolo Lazzarito (94W&S, 92AG, 92RP, 90WS). Wine & Spirits: "Lazzarito comes from La Delizia Vineyard located just outside the village of Serralunga. The nebbiolo vines here grow in sedimentary marine soils mixed with calcareous marl, and the resulting wines are textbook examples of the powerful structure associated with Barolo from Serralunga. This 2001 harnesses that power in a seamless way, the tannin providing a firm foundation for the interplay of punchy cherry flavors and fragrant porcini earthiness. After a day of air, the wine grows more expressive and becomes a precise, clean arc of flavor that lasts. Completely satisfying, this will only get better with time. Buy three bottles: two for the cellar and one for grilled rack of lamb." (12/2007)

James Suckling: "Complex aromas of red fruits, flowers and fresh mushrooms follow through to a full body, with ultra-fine tannins and intense fruit and bright acidity. Goes on for a long, long time. So juicy and fruity. Hints of bitter lemon rind." (01/2012)

2006 Finca Villacreces
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Finca Villacreces (94RP, 90ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The purple-colored 2006 Tinto is made up of 86% Tempranillo and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged for 16 months in French oak. The nose displays a brooding aromatic array of Asian spices, damp earth, mineral, blackberry, and violets. Dense and stacked on the palate, the wine is still a bit tightly wound and will benefit from 4-6 years of additional cellaring. Incipiently complex and exceptionally lengthy, it should be at its best from 2025 to 2031. " (04/2010)

2007 Fontodi "Vigna del Sorbo" Chianti Classico Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Fontodi "Vigna del Sorbo" Chianti Classico Riserva (95JS, 95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna del Sorbo is a wine that expresses a contemporary vision of what Chianti Classico can be but without ever fully abandoning its roots. The single-vineyard Vigna del Sorbo adds 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (planted on Sangiovese rootstocks) to the Sangiovese. Texturally it is classic Sangiovese with the fine, sweet tannins that are the hallmark of the vintage, while the Cabernet adds a sepia-hued dimension to the fruit and an element of greater richness in the body, but without dominating the aromatic or flavor profile. The radiant warmth of Panzano doesn’t hurt either, as the fruit is gloriously ripe and soft in this vintage. Everything is beautifully in balance, including the oak, which is barely perceptible. Today the Vigna del Sorbo is very young. It should start to be expressive around age ten and continue to drink
